What’s wrong with exercise in Evony?
There is nothing wrong with exercise in Evony, I kinda like it actually. It gives you a good idea of how battle works if you understand how to use it. The exercise does not take technology and hero bonus into account when calculating outcomes of battle, so you have to think about that yourself, and don’t blame the exercise when you loose your battle.
Technology matters a lot, especially for ranged troops and cavalry! Who can start shooting in the first round of battle have huge impact on the result of the combat. Speed of troops is also really important, that tells you how fast the enemy’s troops reaches your archers and siege weapons. Did you know that archers only fight with 25% strength in hand to hand combat? If the enemy has high compass and horseback riding technology he reaches your archers earlier and this will have a large effect on the outcome of the battle.
This is why exercise might tell you that your archers will kill a group of cavalry without taking any losses and you actually end up loosing the battle and all your troops. Instead of whining in the forum when you loose a battle, look at technology, unit speeds and ranges. Feel free to leave comments or questions.

Please, help me. I dont know how to get horseback riding technology as well as other technologies… I’m just knew at this game but I’m getting frustade coz I can’t find it! Please tell me!!!!!

Go to Town, build (click a square) cottage (upgrade to level 2), ugrade town hall to level 2, build academy. click academy, choose what to learn, hovering over the research button will tel you what you are missing, if anything.

What about the failure of exercise as regards Barbarian defended valleys. A troop selection that works on exercise often fails when sent. I don’t trust it anymore.

Exercise does not take into acct the level of valley adding tech to the defending troops, ie, a lvl8 valley would have troops with lvl 8 techs, medicine, IW, etc
