What troops to build first
You start out building warriors and archers, that’s it. Many people say that warriors suck, and yeah it’s true they are the weakest of the troops, but they are also way cheaper and faster to build. In the beginning you’d like to get troops quickly, and you don’t have 15 barracks in each village either like you will later, so that’s why you should focus on the warriors.
It’s also true that archers can kill warriors easily, with no losses if there are enough archers, but that’s why you’re building your own archers at the same time. Don’t ever leave your warriors alone with open gates or in a valley somewhere, always keep them together with the archers you’re building at the same time. 1 archer for every 10 warriors you build is a good ratio starting out. The archers will also be used for taking out all warrior, pike or sword armies in valleys with no losses.
Later on you can build other troops, but first get 100,000 warriors and 10,000 archers.

When it comes to defending your city,and comparing archers and warriors you want to load up on warriors. 1. Because they eat a third the amount of food that archers do and 2. They have the same defense strength as archers. Now, it is true that archers also provide attack where warriors have very little attack strength, but we are talking about defending your city. 3. They can be produced very,very quickly compared to archers and other soldiers. At a minimum I like 500K warriors in my cities. Archers are for attacking not Defending, if you are not an overly aggressive player,check each soldiers defense and make the best decision for your city. For the cost and time required warriors are a very good investment.

I am playing on evony age II in the na1 word.

i have just checked the highest defence on the soldiers and do you know what i found?
I found that the Cataphract horses has the highest defence with 350. So do you think i can defeat nearly everybody with 500k Cataphract?

The best army will take a long time to get but trust me its worth it. First to start off with get 20,000 pikemen.
After that get 100,000 warriors then 30,000 of everything else. Thats the best army which can destroy everything

i have 350karcher and 78k ballistae no other troops and i was slautered by 100k scouts why is that? i had my queen from my lv10 coquering also

@chaos lord… u probably got scout bombed. scouts are very effective because of their speed and in large numbers can kill your archers… only way to counter them is to build up your scouts as well

I play on server ss54 and im doing quite well with prestige but not so well with troops,
I got hit really hard recently and lost everything and i cant decide which troops are most important to build again first,

Boudreaux, I agree with most of what you said, but warriors don’t compare to the defending strength of archers. Archers are good for their defending for the same reason they are good attackers. Archers have extraordinary range.

I nearly started 2 nd dnt have any warrior or anything 2 defendmyself wit by wat do u guys recomend I do first scouts or warriors
