Evony Strategy Guide

Controlling your gates and deciding when to open your gate to fight is an important aspect of Evony. Some form of attacks work very well on your city when your gates are open, and some work very well when your gates are closed. All this assumes that you have filled up your wall with fortifications of course, but most cities will be filled up with that within a week after they are built. I suggest mostly archer towers and some traps and abatis as well.

If your city is well defended you usually want to have your gates open at all times. If you have your gates closed other players can easily run in with 100k archers and destroy all your archers towers and traps. Then they can send in some cavalry to take out your abatis and leave your city with no fortifications left at all. They will also most likely have taken a huge chunk of your honor in the process. Archers towers in Evony, also called Evony ATs, are simply the best fortifications there is. They stand on top of a massive wall shooting at enemy units from a comfortable position. They will gain an extra 4.5% shooting range for each level your wall is, giving them the second highest range of all the units in Evony. The only unit with higher range is the defensive trebuchet, but that unit is way too expensive and take too much room.

With a battle range of 5000 the archers towers can often shoot at enemy troops for many rounds without anyone hitting them back. I try to get as many archer towers as possible on my walls, about 14,000 of them on a maxed wall. Read the rest of this entry »

Defending your cities is obviously very important in Evony. For defense you can use both a lot of scouts so they are not able to find out how many troops you have or just a lot of defense troops so they can’t manage to beat you anyways. In addition to your troops you need a lot of fortifications, I recommend archers towers, they are effective against almost anything the enemy can send at you.

I also recommend having gate closed usually, unless you’re able to have a huge defense army in town, or you are only and manage to figure out how large of an army your enemy sends against you. It’s true that more powerfull players will destroy your fortifications frequently, but they are pretty cheap to rebuild after all. If you keep rebuilding fortifications and don’t have much resources worth to plunder other players will proabably just leave you alone. Read the rest of this entry »

Building a new city in Evony is actually quite easy. First you need to have a high enough title, to build your second village you need to be a Knight.
