Evony endgame – checking if opponent is online

with 3 comments

Before attacking, and especially scout bombing, strong players in the endgame of Evony it is important to figure out if they are online or offline. If they are online they can just keep their gates open if you send archers or cavalry at them, and close them if you send scout bombs having all your scouts die on their fortifications. Here are a few tricks you can use to figure out if the player you are about to attack is online.

If his gates are open you can start sending a 100k scout bomb to the target. You send 1 scout on a scout mission to land at the same time or 1 second after the scout bomb attack. Turn back the 100k scout bomb at the last second. If you see the gate is suddenly closed you know the player is online and closed his gates to defend against the scout bomb. Pillaging other players – early PvP

with 2 comments

Attacking other players for resources is a very good way to grow quickly at the start of a new server in Evony. Be careful not to attack someone with a larger army than you though, since loosing you whole army will really hurt you. In addition to not being able to pillage other players you will probably be pillaged a lot yourself and wake up every morning with no resources in any of your cities. Read the rest of this entry »

Biggest plunder ever in Evony

with 11 comments

Just before New Years what is believed to be the biggest plunder ever happened on the wn1 server in Evony. The loot of 1.2 billion resources were stolen in the first attack and carried home in 120,000 transporters! The attacker was TheShow on server wn1 and the defender, who lost more than 1.7 billion resources total in the main attack and one follow up, was BuRaRaZ. This got to really suck for BuRaRaZ who has probably spent weeks if not months farming NPCs and gathering up all these resources. You can see a copy of a battle report below in the article, click to make it larger. Read the rest of this entry »

Battering ram attacks

with 6 comments

The battering ram in Evony is the strongest close combat troop there is. It has crazy life and defence stats of 160 and 5,000! No other troop type in Evony comes even close to this. This means it can pretty much walk through huge amounts of other troops before taking serious damage. A full army of battering rams is very hard to stop.

Cataphracts

without comments

Cataphracts, also called phracts, are the most deadly of your horseback units, doing both more damage and having more life than the cavalry. Cataphracts are quite a bit slower than cavalry though, but still fast enough to reach enemy archers and do massive damage to them.  As with the cavlary you need to layer your cataphract attacks correctly. Since they are slower than cavalry you can layer cataphracts with both cavalry and scouts. It can also be a good idea to take out enemy layers with other troops in small suicide attacks before sending in the cataphracts, the phracts are really expensive and timely to rebuild after all. Cavalry attacks with layering

with 4 comments

Cavalry can take out massive amounts of archers with the right layering, so cavalry or ponies as they are also often called are really useful troops in Evony these days. The cavalry attacks are used in PvP, as there are no PvE situations where you will meet 100k or more archers. When using cavalry to take on huge armies you need to use some form of layering, if not your ponies will hardly do any damage at all, you can see that in the combat report below.
