Horseback riding allows you to build cavalry units at level 1. Upgrading this technology provides your cavalry and siege weapon units 5% movement speed increase. When you reach level 5 horseback riding you will also be allowed to build cataphracts, which are more heavily armored type of cavalry.

Compass is a research upgrade which allows your army and troops to move faster. It allows movement speed of your military force to increase by 10% ever time you upgrade this. This is a beneficial technology because it will allow your army to move as a faster rate compared to the opposing force’s army.

With this technology you will have an upper hand in wars which will pave the way to building an empire. The technology can be researched in your academy building, it will however require you to upgrade your academy to level 4 before leveling compass to level 1.
