Evony Age 2 Guide

Metal casting is a technology which helps your city’s defenses. It is required to decrease production time of defenses for your city. Also some of your city’s defense structures require you to upgrade metal casting. Each time you upgrade this technology, you will gain a 10% decrease in production time of defenses for your city.

As with other technology upgrades, there are certain prerequisites you need before you can upgrade to another level. To level up metal casting to level 1, you need to have a level 3 academy, level 2 workshop, 1000 lumber, 1000 iron, 10000 gold. The build time is 30 minutes. In Evony Age 1 the workshop was a pretty useless building. The only thing you needed the workshop for was as a prerequisite for building walls and for researching metal casting. Metal casting is a prerequisite for defense mechanics.

Anyways, with Evony Age 2 the workshop has become a much more important building. Now you need the workshop to be able to make gear for your heroes. Having good gear for your heroes is really important, as most heroes are very weak without being equipped with decent gear. You need certain resources to be able to produce hero gear, and this changes depending on what level of gear you want to make. You can read more about gear making here.

The workshop is also were you upgrade your gear’s star levels, you can read more about star levels and how to upgrade these levels in my guide to star levels.

Researching technologies is pretty important in Evony, so I thought I’d write an article about which technologies you should go for first. After a few months of play time you should have all technologies at level 10, but choosing the right order of researching them can give you an edge in the game on a new server starting up. You have 3 types of technologies in Evony, resource bonus technologies, combat technolgies and city technologies. If I’m going to conquer a city in Evony I want it to be a city worth keeping. For me that is a city with high level buildings and several high level barracks. New players with low prestige usually don’t have villages like that, so when I try to conquer cities it is usually cities from high prestige active players.
