Sow spies in Enemy’s Camp
This offense stratagem is really useful I think, especially later in the game. When other players has millions of scouts in their cities it is very hard to scout them the normal way. Using this stratagem you can see how many troops they have in their city without having to use and scouts of your own. The stratagem is quite cheap compared to the other offense stratagems, so I can see this being one being used quite a lot.
Gems and upgrading items in the forge
Using Gems is a new feature of Evony Age II and you use these gems to improve the attributes the gear and items give to your heroes. The gear itself you make in your workshop, while you use the forge to place gems on the gear you have already made, this is called Advanced Blacksmithing. Then you use the feasting hall to equip heroes with gear. Gems are not the same as stratagems or gemstones. Gems in Evony Age II come in 3 types, Rubies, Sapphires and Topazes and each of these come from level 1 to level 10 I believe, even though I’ve only seen level 1 to level 9 so far.
You can buy these gems in the Evony store, and you can also get them from attacks. You can also melt two gems together to make a higher level gem using Advanced Gems Smelting. If you want to buy the gems from the store you buy them in chests. There are 3 types of chests, the Wooden Chest, the Bronze Chest and the Royal Chest. Each chest offers you 1 or 2 gems of level 1-3 for a Wooden Chest, 4-6 for a Bronze Chest and 7-9 for a Royal Chest. Read the rest of this entry »
Hero Gear and Items
A new feature of Evony Age II is that you can equip heroes with different types of equipment and items. These different type of hero gear all adds different attribute points to your hero. The gear can again be equipped with the gems you want so that they give extra bonuses in the attributes you are interested in. You put gear on your hero in the feasting hall.
Each hero has 16 available slots he can use to place gear in, that is mount, shield, legs, weaponry, feet, 2 rings, 2 charms, belts, gauntlets, chest, back, shoulders, head and neck. As you can see the heroes of Evony Age 2 can get really powerful if you give them good gear. What type of gear your hero can be equipped with depends on his level. The lowest level possible that can use gear is a level 10 hero, he can use level 1 gear. You can see what type of heroes can wear what gear in this table.
| Hero level | Gear level |
| 10-19 | Level 1 |
| 20-29 | Level 2 |
| 30-39 | Level 3 |
| 40-49 | Level 4 |
| 50-59 | Level 5 |
| 60-69 | Level 6 |
| 70-79 | Level 7 |
| 80-89 | Level 8 |
| 90-99 | Level 9 |
| 100+ | Level 10 |
You make the gear in your workshop and you can decide what focus the gear should have when you put in on your hero. Hero at higher levels have higher attributes and you can also use higher level gems on this gear in the forge. You can read more about making gear in the gems article. If you equip your hero with all level 1 equipment without gems that is focused on attack he will get +16 attack. If you put a ruby level 1 on all of this equipment each part of the level 1 equipment will now be 1 + 1 = 2 so he’d get a +32 attack bonus. With high level equipment your hero could get an increase of several hundred points in the attribute of your choice!
Evony endgame – checking if opponent is online
Before attacking, and especially scout bombing, strong players in the endgame of Evony it is important to figure out if they are online or offline. If they are online they can just keep their gates open if you send archers or cavalry at them, and close them if you send scout bombs having all your scouts die on their fortifications. Here are a few tricks you can use to figure out if the player you are about to attack is online.
If his gates are open you can start sending a 100k scout bomb to the target. You send 1 scout on a scout mission to land at the same time or 1 second after the scout bomb attack. Turn back the 100k scout bomb at the last second. If you see the gate is suddenly closed you know the player is online and closed his gates to defend against the scout bomb. How do I appoint a Mayor?
Appointing a mayor in Evony is pretty basic stuff, but there are still quite a few new players joining the game. Evony is one of the largest MMO strategy browser games out there after all. Anyways, to appoint a mayor you first have to build an Inn and then a Feasting Hall. You need to recruit at least one hero from your Inn, since you need a hero to have a mayor. For each level of your Feating Hall you can recruit one extra hero. All a higher Inn does is giving you more heroes to chose from, and also higher level heroes to chose from. Saving high level heroes
Today I saw a post in the Evony forum about a guy loosing his level 295 hero with 358 attack. Losing a high level hero like that really sucks, cause it takes a long time and lots of hard work to get a hero to this level. It is very unnecessary to lose a high level hero like this though, as long as you are careful chances you’ll lose a high level hero are pretty much 0, just follow these two rules. Holy water
The holy water item in Evony is very useful, and it’s also very cheap at only 20 cents. This is the item you use to make the best heroes you can in the Evony browser game. Using a holy water you can reset 10 of the hero’s ability points, this is good since you can then reassign any points the hero has spent in other attributes than their main one. Heroes should only focus on either politics, attack or intelligence, not a mix of then. Read the rest of this entry »
