Evony Age 2 Guide

The swordsman is the defense foot soldier, but the troop type is not used much in Evony Age 2. Swordsmen are decent at attacking too, but most players in Evony Age 2 use pikemen instead as they are faster and fights enemy cavalry better. Swordsmen are slow to build and they move pretty slowly also. When it comes to defense in Evony Age 2, swordsmen aren’t much used either. The reason is that archers usually perform way better compared to the same number of swordsmen. Personally, I haven’t really used swordsmen much at all in Evony Age 2.

The Ultra Corselet is an Evony item that increases troop defense by 20% for 7 days. Some people assume that if you apply an Ultra Corselet while troops are already marching, they won’t receive the bonus from the item. This is not true. The effects of the Ultra Corselet are present while both attacking and defending. One of the most effective ways to use this item is to pair it together with a War Horn. Matching these items will give you a 20% attack bonus and a 20% bonus to your defense. This item is stackable. An Ultra Corselet has an Evony Price of 60 cents.

A Truce Agreement is a starting item in Evony which is also present in Gift Packages, which can save you from having your city taken over. When applied, a Truce Agreement will create a 12 hour peacetime, in which you cannot attack or be attacked. This item is very useful when you feel like you may have your city taken over while you are sleeping. One thing to note, if you have sent out troops or someone has sent troops towards your city, you can not use this item. If you wish to buy another Truce Agreement, you can do for at the Evony Store for 30 cents.

The Corselet is an item offered for purchase on Evony which will increase the defenses of your troops by 20% with a duration of 24 hours. One common misunderstanding is that if you apply a Corselet while your troops are marching, they will not receive the item bonus. This is completely untrue. The Corselet effects are present while defending, as well as attacking. One effective way to use this item is to couple it with a War Horn. This will give you a 20% bonus to your attack and a 20% bonus to your defense. This is a stackable item. A Corselet has an Evony Price of 10 cents.

As the name implies, iron working is that iron is smelted and made into objects to help your city and army. Iron working will increase your army’s defense by 10%, every time you upgrade this technology. You can check out this technology by clicking on your city’s academy building.

The benefit of increasing your army’s defense is it will allow your army to withstand attacks longer and have an increase chance to win a war. Iron working also has prerequisites which you need to comply before upgrading to level 1. So be sure to be ready with the prerequisites when you decide to upgrade this technology. This is the last of the five defensive stratagems in Evony Age II. What this does is letting your army escape your city when your city is being besieged. It is the counter measure against the offense stratagem Ambush from all sides, letting your army escape and not be stuck in the city and killed off. This seems like the most useful defense stratagem to me, and it is one I’m sure I’ll use several times.

This stratagem seems a bit more useful than the cast a brick to attract a gem, it does the exact opposite. Instead of showing that you have more resources than you actually do, it shows on the scout reports that you have less, only 10% to 20% of your actual resources. I can see this being very useful early on the server when there is a ton of plundering going on, instead of showing 3 million resources it shows only 300k -600k, and this may stop someone from attacking you who would do so otherwise.
