Evony Age 2 Guide

The Mechanics Battalion is an item in Evony, that once used will give you an average of 250 catapults, 150 battering rams and 150 ballistae. This item is one of the best in the game. As we know, archers are key, and this item is equivalent to about 7200 archers. Make sure you do not use the Mechanics Battalion before mid-game, as you will run into a food issue.

One awesome tactic that can be used with the Mechanics Battalion is to activate this item at such a time that you are able to begin pillaging level 5 cities (NPCs) before everybody else. The Mechanics Battalion is available as a prize for Wheel of Fortune and Amulet.

Historical cities, or barbarian cities as they are also called, is a new feature of Evony Age 2. It is quite hard to conquer the historical cities as they have a ton of troops in them. Conquering historical cities is definitely possible however, and doing so will gain you huge advantages in the game, so in this guide I will show you how to conquer the first of these historical cities, the level 12 barbarian city.

First lets look at what kind of defense the level 12 historical city has. Not all level 12 cities will have the same type of troops but all will contain something like 280k warriors, 27k calvary, 40k pikemen, 17k archers and maxed fortifications. Catapults are the most powerful units in Evony, they throw huge rocks at the enemy from a very long distance. Catapults are really cool, and for an attack force nothing beats a 125k catapult attack. There are many problems with them though, number one is that they take an extremely long time to build and you need level 10 barracks to build them in. Many players have 100 total barracks that are level 9, but very few have even close to this many level 10 barracks. Defending your cities is obviously very important in Evony. For defense you can use both a lot of scouts so they are not able to find out how many troops you have or just a lot of defense troops so they can’t manage to beat you anyways. In addition to your troops you need a lot of fortifications, I recommend archers towers, they are effective against almost anything the enemy can send at you.

I also recommend having gate closed usually, unless you’re able to have a huge defense army in town, or you are only and manage to figure out how large of an army your enemy sends against you. It’s true that more powerfull players will destroy your fortifications frequently, but they are pretty cheap to rebuild after all. If you keep rebuilding fortifications and don’t have much resources worth to plunder other players will proabably just leave you alone. Read the rest of this entry »
