Workshop
In Evony Age 1 the workshop was a pretty useless building. The only thing you needed the workshop for was as a prerequisite for building walls and for researching metal casting. Metal casting is a prerequisite for defense mechanics.
Anyways, with Evony Age 2 the workshop has become a much more important building. Now you need the workshop to be able to make gear for your heroes. Having good gear for your heroes is really important, as most heroes are very weak without being equipped with decent gear. You need certain resources to be able to produce hero gear, and this changes depending on what level of gear you want to make. You can read more about gear making here.
The workshop is also were you upgrade your gear’s star levels, you can read more about star levels and how to upgrade these levels in my guide to star levels.
Beacon tower
The beacon tower is quite an important building in browser game Evony. The beacon tower will warn you on incoming attacks on your city, and the higher the level of your beacon tower is, the more information you will get about the incoming attack. I advice you to have a beacon tower in each of your cities and get them to level 9 as quickly as possible. If you’re hardly ever attacked this isn’t very important, but most players are attacked now and then, and then it is a huge advantage to get as much information you can about the incoming army. Intant building of troops in Evony
As you may know the build time of troops in Evony depends on the attack skill of the hero that is currently major of your city. Something you might not know is that Evony rounds time down, so if your hero’s attack skill is high enough you can actually train troops in 0 seconds, pretty cool! It works right now as I’m writing this, but maybe it’ll be changed so use it while you can, it’s kinda like a cheat after all. The forumla for training time is:
Training time = (base training time)*.9^(technology level)*.995^(hero attack)
When this formula gives you a result less than 1 second Evony rounds it down to 0 seconds.
