Evony Age 2 Guide

Archers are by far the most popular troop type of Evony Age 2, and it was the same in Age 1. The reason is simply that it is considered the best troop there is. Archers will perform better than pretty much any other troop combination your enemy can send at you. Archers are great both when it comes to PvP and PvE. People have been farming NPCs with archers for a long time, and no other troop performs as good as archers here. When you want to conquer these new historic cities of Evony Age 2, archers are also the way to go.

Both for defense and offense archers are really good, and I suggest you focus mostly on archers when it comes to the basic defense of each of your cities. You need level 4 barracks to build archers, so the first thing you should focus on when you build a new city is to get all the barracks to level 4.

The Senior Battalion is an Evony item which grants you 100-200 archers, 150-250 swordsmen, 200-250 scouts and 200-300 pikemen. Most people feel the swordsmen and pikesmen have little worth. The Senior Battalion is equivalent to about 300 archers. It should be noted that this item cannot be bought through the Evony Store. Senior Battalion can only be obtained by spinning the Wheel of Fortune.

Historical cities, or barbarian cities as they are also called, is a new feature of Evony Age 2. It is quite hard to conquer the historical cities as they have a ton of troops in them. Conquering historical cities is definitely possible however, and doing so will gain you huge advantages in the game, so in this guide I will show you how to conquer the first of these historical cities, the level 12 barbarian city.

First lets look at what kind of defense the level 12 historical city has. Not all level 12 cities will have the same type of troops but all will contain something like 280k warriors, 27k calvary, 40k pikemen, 17k archers and maxed fortifications. Many players are doing what is called a prestige run these days, using a few days to gain millions of prestige. Prestige runs have been done several times and is quite easy to do. So a prestige run is not really something new to Evony, but still most players don’t really know how to take advantage of the prestige run strategy.

First thing you need for a prestige run is a lot of archers, since you will be killing these archers to gain this prestige. To gain 14 million prestige you would need about 1 million archers, 28 million prestige would be 2 million archers, etc. This is assuming you get 14 prestige points for each archers who dies. This attack report was posted in the Evony forums today. It is an attack report from server 52 where one player takes out more than 1 million archers in one attack. This is the most archers I’ve ever seen killed in one attack. The player making the attack is named Gil, and he used 1000 scouts, 29000 cavalry and 70000 cataphracts. He had a level 361 attack hero and was up against a level 261 attack hero. He had taken out all the layers before the archers, apart from 72 warriors, so the cavalry and cataphracts went straight to the archers and did maximum damage. Evony traps, is there any use in having them these days? I think you should have some traps, but not a whole lot of them, Archer towers are still the best fortification there is in my opinion, but it is nice to layer your fortifications a bit with traps and abatis as well. Traps are pretty good at killing foot soldiers, but they are pretty useless unless you combine them with archer towers. If a player only have traps as his fortification the enemies will just send cheap warriors at him and destroy those traps pretty easily. If he has archer towers as well however, losses will be much larger if he chooses to only send warriors. Read the rest of this entry »

A Evony rainbow attack is layering your main attack troop, usually archers or cavalry, with other types of troops to reduce losses. In these attacks on a level 10 NPC barbarian city the player looses almost no troops at all cause of his layering. The troops used are archers, warriors, workers and transports, 100k troops total. It is very important that you have maximum technologies when trying this, and you also need a hero with 130 or more attack power. The higher attack power of your hero the lower losses you will have. You can also use penicillin and war horn to reduce losses even more. The numbers of different troops used in both of these attacks are listed below.
