Stratagems

with 4 comments

Another new feature of Evony Age II is the Stratagems. These are items you can buy in the Evony Age II store and use for various purposes. There are two type of Stratagems, offensive stratagems and defensive stratagems. Some of the stratagems are really powerful like the “Burn the Warehouses” stratagem that lets you destroy 10% – 50% of your targets food. If someone had saved up billions of food for months this is way too powerful in my opinion.

There is also a huge difference in price between the offensive and the defensive stratagems. Some offensive stratagems cost as much as 100 cents, while all the defensive stratagems cost either 5 or 10 cents. I guess that is to make it easier for players that don’t want to spend a lot of money on the game to defend themselves. Below is a list of all the stratagems and how much they cost to use.

Ambush from all sides

with 3 comments

This is one of the most useful stratagems I’ve seen in Evony Age II so far. What it does is to besiege an enemy city and not letting any troops leave from it for a 2 hour period. Say if your opponent has lots of expensive troops in the city, like catapults or ballistas, besieging the city and killing them all off can be very useful. The bad thing with the stratagem is that it is quite expensive and your opponent can counter it with the cheap defense stratagem Advance by a hidden path.

Advance by a hidden path

This is the last of the five defensive stratagems in Evony Age II. What this does is letting your army escape your city when your city is being besieged. It is the counter measure against the offense stratagem Ambush from all sides, letting your army escape and not be stuck in the city and killed off. This seems like the most useful defense stratagem to me, and it is one I’m sure I’ll use several times.
