Swordsmen
The swordsman is the defense foot soldier, but the troop type is not used much in Evony Age 2. Swordsmen are decent at attacking too, but most players in Evony Age 2 use pikemen instead as they are faster and fights enemy cavalry better. Swordsmen are slow to build and they move pretty slowly also. When it comes to defense in Evony Age 2, swordsmen aren’t much used either. The reason is that archers usually perform way better compared to the same number of swordsmen. Personally, I haven’t really used swordsmen much at all in Evony Age 2.

Swordmen are best used as layering, mainly as defensive layering since enemy range units will hit them first before your archers. That has been my experience anyway.
