Evony Age 2 Guide

Many players have complained that they don’t like the way Evony’s official forum is moderated and threads are closed. They are that way too often interesting threads are locked by the moderators or game admins without important questions being answered, or various concerns pointed out in the thread being addressed. A few days ago someone made a post called “A Gold Star for Evony” in the general discussion forum. He complained that admins leave totally unhelpful replies in threads and then closing them down way too often.

In this case it was a thread about botting they closed down, which is a topic I understand the game admins don’t want to be discussed. The interesting part however is that they actually replied to the closing of threads complaints from players and made the “A Gold Star for Evony” thread a sticky. I think it’s great that the Evony admins take time to answer complaints like these. On page 5 in this thread vise development director Thalin Athasian says this.

Yes, I do take time to review the forums, mainly in the suggestion threads although occassionaly I am pointed towards threads where there are issues.

In the issue of bots: No, I’m sorry, they will not be allowed. Are you wanting to provide suggestions, etc? Please do. Understand that as a small independent developer/publisher, your suggestions while great may or may not get to the development plan. Why? Because it is very intrusive and interruptive in developing games to try and put in ideas from players. We do try to do a few and have done. No game developer or publisher company simply makes changes to their development plans simply by the latest forum post; saying that, there are opportunities to take suggestions and impliment them a little further down the road.

Right now, it is crunch with Evony: Age II and it will be a fantastic game that players will truly enjoy and no company currently marketing games has something like E:AII. You will enjoy it.

Going forward, do I want threads and posts talking about bots? No, because it attracts more to use them, and then they too have their accounts banned after they try it out of curiousity. That does not help the community, nor does it make a fun place to play. So if you do see me closing threads, etc on bots, that’s why.

Now, for those who do want to suggest changes, etc. By all means please do. I do use the weekends to review the game suggestion forum and try to respond to many there. If you’re wanting my eye to review a suggestion, make it in a positive manner and please try to keep it to one suggestion per thread. Put my forum handle there somewhere in your post, and I’ll get there as soon as I can.

So to be clear: No discussing bots. No discussing why you use bots. No discussing a fantastic thread and then throwing in something about bots. Do yourself and the player community a favour and simply stay within the boundaries. Do please offer suggestions. Send the liaisons a message with a concern. Giving people suspensions, bans, infractions is not at all enjoyable and I would rather spend time talking about how to make your experience better.
