How do I build a new city?

with 53 comments

Building a new city in Evony is actually quite easy. First you need to have a high enough title, to build your second village you need to be a Knight. You get to that title by following the promotion quests, and you need the items in your beginner package. You find your package under the package symbol top left on your screen.

Then you need to conquer a flat, look around on the map for the lowest level flat you can find. The higher level flat the more troops you will need, so it’s best if you find a level 1 or 2 to build your second city on. Make sure you scout it first to check how many soldiers there are guarding it. Usually 200-300 warriors and 50-100 archers should do the job on a low level flat. You can only conquer as many flats as the level of your town hall, so make sure you haven’t conquered too many forests, lakes and such already.

When your troops arrive and win the battle you’ll see a flag on the flat, meaning you’ve conquered it. Now you need to have 250 workers ready, these workers you actually get from the beginner package, and you also need to have a rally point level 2. If you have all this there should be a build city button when you click on the flat. Click the button and also click yes to taking the reinforcements home. When the workers reach the flat you’ll have a new city!

  4. It has to be a “Flat”, not Forest, Swamp, etc.

  5. Lv 1 flats and Lv 10 flats have no difference in power. If you abandon the city, that’s the level the barbarian city will be.

  9. I am new to this. How do I know when the barb city’s loyalty drops to 0? Will it be in the attack report? Also, how many waves of successfull attacks are needed to totally defeat a Lv-1 barb city? Can a single powerful wave take it out? I know they regenerate very quickly…

  11. you have to have the according title. if the barb town is your second, you have to be a knight. if its your third city, you have to be whatever is better than knight.

  18. youre all noobs. you need 10k of each resoure and 250 workers at an existing city! not the flat!
then from that city, click on the flat and hit the build city button. and dont say you cant find it, it is one of ….maybe two buttons.

  19. I’ve the same

  20. Check all resourses for proper amounts required.
Make sure that you can conquer 1 more valley, leave free space for the city you want to build.
Make sure you have the required title to have more cities and have not already reached your quota.
Recall troops from flat (it will ask this question first anyway).

  21. I had a lot of trouble…

For noobs like me. If the ‘Build a city’ is grayed out it means you lack the resources or workers in an existing city. That’s right keep them in the city you are departing from. If you bring the workers or resources they will not be included in the requirements. The button says it, but to me it is intuitive to bring the workers with you.

  23. oh and you build more cities based on the level of your town hall… the game blatantly states that early on….

  24. Hey, I have two cities already, I attacked and conquered level 6 valley. I have all the required resources and over 250 worker on main city. My main city Town hall level is 4 and I am Knight lieutenant.

When I click on conquered valley the build new city button is inactive. What do I need to do?

    Thanks,

  26. I am a knight, I have all the resources, I have 2 cities, so I know how to form a city.

I have 100,000 of each resource, about 40,000 gold, 400 works in my main city that conquered the flat with the flag, but I can’t click the BUILD CITY button, because it is unclickable (darkened out).

    Any ideas?

  27. Go to your townhall and click on valleys. You can see how many valleys you have from there. You might have one that you want to abandon. Abandon it and then see if you can build a city.

  28. Just to add to the comments here. The level of your town hall does not matter for building a new city, what does though is your rank. To get a second city you must have the “knight” rank, for a third city “major” forth “baronet”.

the flat i’m trying to occupy is at 489,571.. i’m on server 137.. about to stop playing if i can’t figure this out

  38. I tried Barbing a lvl 5 valley in Evony II, and built a city, then I abandoned it so that I could farm it later. A lvl 5 Barb appeared as it should, but the next day, it was gone. ANybody know what the rules are for the barbs to stay?

  39. Thanks to this post (and the comments too) I found my answer: it must be a FLAT (I was trying to build in a forest :P ). Another question: Forest, lakes, hills, swamps: how can we use them?

  40. Youll need 10k resources and 250 workers in an EXISTING city, not at your flat.

    StDeath

    17 Apr 10 at 1:52 am

  41. Ok guys u are all noobs
to build a second city you must first reach the appropriate title and rank. Then as stated above you must have 250 workers and 10k of every resource in a “existing city” not at the flat itself. If you are a knight you can only have 2 cities, so if you have 2 and you are trying to build another one stop now and get your title up by getting the requirements listed on your quest under promotions.
All you need to figure it out is this:

  42. Rank: Civilian. L3 Rally Point. Still in first 7 days, “peacetime” (although this is never mentioned as an impediment). I occupy NO other lands besides my home. Attacked L3 FLAT (not swamp, forest, etc.). I had available: 250 workers, at LEAST 10,000 each resource.

The Build City button is blacked out. I have attacked this land 5 times now, trying to tweak things. Nothing works. This is frustrating.

The only thing I can think of: does this mean 10k production of each resource???? This sucks.

    sam

    23 Jun 10 at 8:53 pm

  49. You guys dont send the 250 workers and resources to the flat. They have to be at your already existing city. Then you conquer the flat. Once you’ve done that you click the flat and the build city button will be there. Remember that you have to have the workers and 10k res in your current city.
