Hero Gear and Items

with 11 comments

A new feature of Evony Age II is that you can equip heroes with different types of equipment and items. These different type of hero gear all adds different attribute points to your hero. The gear can has a level called star level, you can upgrade the star level of your gear in the workshop using delicate and flawless gems. You put gear on your hero in the feasting hall.

Each hero has 16 available slots he can use to place gear in, that is mount, shield, legs, weaponry, feet, 2 rings, 2 charms, belts, gauntlets, chest, back, shoulders, head and neck. As you can see the heroes of Evony Age 2 can get really powerful if you give them good gear. What type of gear your hero can be equipped with depends on his level. The lowest level possible that can use gear is a level 10 hero, he can use level 1 gear. You can see what type of heroes can wear what gear in this table.

Hero level Gear level
10-19 Level 1
20-29 Level 2
30-39 Level 3
40-49 Level 4
50-59 Level 5
60-69 Level 6
70-79 Level 7
80-89 Level 8
90-99 Level 9
100+ Level 10

You make the gear in your workshop and you can decide what focus the gear should have when you put in on your hero. If you equip your hero with all level 1 equipment without gems that is focused on attack he will get +16 attack. If you upgrade your gears star level you can get even higher bonuses, read about star levels here. With high level equipment your hero could get an increase of several hundred points in the attribute of your choice!

  3. Is it only the mayor that can wear the gear? If so, what is the point as they cannot be selected for battle?

  4. All heros can wear gear. The level of your workshop is the number of heros allow to wear gear. The hero must be at least a level 10 before it can add gear. Increase research in workshop and add stars for additional strength.

  5. when you upgrade the gear does it automatically upgrade the gear of all heroes who are equipped? Or do you have to individually select itmes for heroes to wear?

  6. Two things.

1)More than 10 heroes can wear gear. There may be limits, but I have yet to run into them. L10 workshop, as many as 50 heroes all geared up.

    2) Apparently there is a limit as to the level a hero can reach. I can no longer enhance my best hero. The system message is that he has reached the limit of 100. This means there continues to be a real premium of finding as low a level hero with as high an attribute as possible in your inns. There will be limits as to the attributes, even though enhanced my gear.

This also means that there is a premium on historical heroes, as these are apparently the only ones who can be higher than L100.

  7. Slight correct – gear adds 15 buffs, not 16; mount adds speed, not buff.
Gear made in any city’s workshop is available to all the player’s heroes, regardless of where they are.

The limits mentioned in the post just above may be level specific; my attack hero is now lvl30, wears lvl2 gear, but only gets lvl1 buff.

  8. Correction: The best gear for which a hero qualifies is shown as equipped by assignment. However, the actual buff received appears to be limited to level 1 gear in cities other than the one where the gear was researched. So, my lvl35 hero gains 30 points from lvl2 gear in my main city, but only 15 in the other two cities, even though the appearance of the gear is the same in all three cities.

  9. Moderator, could you please delete the previous two comments and this sentence from this one.
Slight correction: gear adds 15 buffs to attributes and 1 buff to speed. The highest level available gear for which a hero qualifies will be shown in the hero’s panel when equipped. However the actual buffs gained from the gear are limited to the workshop level of the city. Thus, my lvl35 hero wears lvl2 gear and gains 30 points + stars in my city with lvl6 workshop; she looks like she’s still wearing lvl2 gear, but only gains 15 + stars in a city with lvl1 workshop. She gains only the stars attrib buffs in a city without a workshop at all, though it still says she’s wearing lvl2 gear.

  10. Question: I made some gear and put it on a hero. Now I have a much better hero. If I dismiss him I don’t lose my gear do I?

  11. You do not need to lose gear if you dismiss a hero. If you “unequip” the hero, the same gear can be put on another hero that you have. This can help boost attributes when selecting temporary mayors to speed training or research projects.
