Evony valleys – a short guide
All the terrain spaces around your cities are called valleys in Evony, actually the only things on the map that are not valleys are player cities and NPC barbarian cities. They come in seven different types, grassland, desert, hill, swamp, lake, forest and flat. The flat is the only type of valley that you can build a new city on, to do this you need to first attack it with enough troops to win the battle and conquer it. Then you click the “build city” button to found your new city.
You don’t get any resource production for having a flat conquered, but you get bonuses for conquering all the other types of valleys. You can have as many valleys conquered as the level of your city hall is. Forests are the most popular valleys to conquer since they give production bonus to your lumber production, which is the most popular resources. Iron is also a popular resource and to get a production bonus here you have to attack and successfully conquer hills. To get production bonus to your stone production you need to conquer the desert type of valley.
The three valleys I haven’t talked about already give you production bonus to your food production. These are the lakes, swamps and grasslands. Overall you get a higher resource production bonus if you take a higher level valley. The higher level valleys also have more troops and higher technology levels though, so they are quite a bit harder to conquer. The valleys have the same level of all technologies as their level. If you want to know how many warriors you need minimum to successfully conquer each type of valley you can check out this post.

Tried out your “no loss” numbers. Did not work and I lost the single units and a small amount of archers each time I tried.

Not even close. I doubled these numbers and still took quite a few losses with 9 arch and 7hbr

i think spawn numbers reflect having 10 archery and 10 in defense of troops and attack of troops

The numbers are correct just do not layer. send recommended number of archers and 1 scout.

Yeah I tried tripling them and still lost archers. These numbers seem like they need to be reconfigured for the higher ranges.. or you need to specify what researches and attack power on hero you are using to find these.

You will always have losses if you face enemies Caverly or Archers, this is something that you can not change its just battle mechanics, if you don’t want to lose any scout Vallys Lv4+ to see if they have Archers or Cav.

Yes, SpaWn has it right – archers alone suffice for 0 loss of valleys lvl 1-3. Lvl4 and above can spawn enough opposing archers that losses will ALWAYS occur.
What is not mentioned in the introduction is the observation that valleys change. Each day – at server maintenance, 24:00 game clock time – all unoccupied valleys are “reset” to a level 1 higher than they were. Lvl 10 valleys become lvl 1.
Maybe after some time of server activity, it also appears that even flats that were occupied and then abandoned (i.e. an NPC city was constructed) are recycled; the city disappears and a flat of as-yet-unkown level takes its place. This has just happened on server na17 – about 3-4 weeks after it opened.

When taking a valley that is already owned it appears that you need to use 2 attacks….one for victory over the current owner and another to claim it for yourself.

I can attack a lvl 1 flat with 25 archers with no losses at level 6 archery and lvl 3 hbr. A level 2 with 90, a lvl 3 with 125.

Archery level 6
Horseback Riding Level 2
Hero attack 93
SpaWn’s numbers are correct up to valley level 6 (haven’t tried higher lvls yet). I don’t even bother scouting anymore, I just send 1500 archers, and 1 warrior, pike and sword, and I’ve never taken any losses for lvl 6 valleys.

i dont understand why you all have to compare your HBR when the only troops you send out is archers.. hbr only works for mechanics and calvs… compass affects the archers speed

the way to conquer lvl 2 to 6 valleys without losses is as the following
3x^3, where x is the level of the valley
