Evony Starting Guide
When you start a new account on an Evony server you will have 7 days of beginner protection. You better use these days wisely, especially if you’re on a server that has already been running for a while. You can also turn the protection off earlier by building a level 5 townhall, but then you better know what you’re doing.
Anyways, the game is pretty easy to learn by following the quests. Following the quests is definitely the way to go, as in most of them you will get really good rewards. Before you decide what quests to do next, look at the rewards, for some of them the reward is larger than what it costs to fullfill the objective of the quest, like building up the first levels of the townhall, so definitely try to do these quickly.
On a new server prices for resources tend to be very high, and cause of that you should focus mainly on resource production the first couple of days. Don’t build lots of cottages and raise taxes, only build enough so that you can get all your jobs filled. You’ll probably get enough money from the quests you do, and if not you can just sell some resources to make money. Watch the prices in the markedplace, as long as you get more than 1 gold for each resource you sell, don’t bother trying to make money with taxes.
If you start on a server that has already been running for a while, chances are prices for resources will be really low, somewhere in the 0.2 – 0.03 range, with lumber being most valuable. Here I’d advice starting up with a mix of resource production and cottages for taxes, and you should focus on lumber production as this is the most valuable resource. 10% food, 15% iron, 15% stone and 60% lumber would be good. Extra lumber you can sell, and if you need more of the other resources you can buy them.
When it comes to what type of troops and defences you should build before your protection runs out, it depends a lot on your neighbourhood and how old the server is. If it’s a new server I’d just focus on warriors and archers to raid your neighbours with together with a good number of traps and archer towers. If the server have been running for a while and you have several large neighbours, some archer towers and traps won’t really matter to them, so then I’d just focus more on troops and keep gates closed at all times. And on a server that’s been running for a while it’s even more important to never have a lot of resources laying around. If big players don’t see resources when they scout you, they probably won’t attack you.
This is the end of this starting guide, hopefully you found some of it usefull. If you’ve got questions or comments, feel free to post it here.
Expert Guide to Age 2
To become sucessfull and really do well in Evony Age 2 I really think you should get the Advanced Evony Strategies E-Book. Filled with secret strategies and tips it is definitly worth the cost, cheaper than a holiday package even.
Get it here.

Where should one be at the end of the 7 day protection period? What I am asking is:
what levels should buildings be at?
what levels should techs be at?
what recommended troops levels?
what recommended wall defense objects, type and count?
Without some goals, one can build or concentrate in the wrong area and be short in another. Thanks.

This guide is very topical, not informative at all… if you want it to be valuable, you need to give specifics, like olddog is asking.

This has to be one of the worse beginner guild ever. Why bother writing it if you can’t laid out the planning, strategies and steps to do during that first 7 days.

I got my rank boosted when i unknowingly completed some quest…i think they were quests that involve prestige building & population… u just check all your quests’ rewards, one of them will reward wif a boost in rank or title when your city is well-developed like above enough i guess.
Btw, i was wondering, is 200 warriors really sufficient to conquer a lvl 1 or 2 land? any other quantity of attackers needed?

Basic Tips/Strategies during
7 day Beginner’s Protection Period:
First things first–You have to put in the work and be actively involved with this game.
Second, DO NOT USE any cents, items, speed ups, produces, chests or medals; saving for later (after the 7 days) will prove vital in your struggle for existence.
When first building, any time of waiting that is less than 5 minutes can be sped up for free. Otherwise just wait. Also, when creating and upgrading the Academy, Barrack, Beacon Tower, Town Hall and wall, the Quest reward usually gives you back most of you resources used in its construction.
When waiting for construction to complete or battles to finish, it’s ok to skip around the list. Just make sure you have everything checked off at the day’s end.
Know that increasing or decreasing taxes effects loyalty and population inversely. One good technique is to get your loyalties near 100 either by praying cutting taxes then impose a 100% tax duty until loyalty reach 50. However, never let your loyalty go down too far; anything below 45 isn’t safe.
Don’t small talk in the chat rooms; because it takes away speak items which should only be used to recruit more new members into our alliance!
Once you get going, promotions are the only way to develop and thrive. Be advised, promotions should not be accept until after the 7 days of protection.
Everyday you get to claim one Aries amulet, cherish it. And once your town hall reaches lvl 3, click the box present and claim the Lord’s package reward. (Use AFTER completing guide)
Finally, as in real life, school is the best thing for you. After the 3 days your main mission should be to know as much as possible, to fortify your city as best as possible and amass a larger army.
Good luck.

All these guides are terrible…
If you want to be a successful player in this game then what you have to do is prepare to take people out. In order to do this you need a lot of farms and barracks. What you do is:
1. Build 10 barracks in your city
2. Build 11 cottages
3. Build 6 lumber mills, Quarries, and Ironmines
4. Build the rest as Farms
5. Build every other building except Warehouses as they are useless
6. If you want to, in another city build a warehouse simply to get your stockpile level up.
7. Now level your Town Hall and Walls to level 9(do this before building your resource fields).
8. Level your Barracks, Cottages, and Farms to Level 9
8. Conquer only Lake/Swamps level 7 or higher
9. Continue leveling the rest of your buildings to level 9

Trenton your retarded , no one starts out with enough materials to build 10 barracks off the get go. Should focus on resorces first
Kingzx2
7 Jan 10 at 12:02 am
I agree with Kingzx2, Trenton you are retarded, first of all, 6 Quarrys? The most useless resource you can get.
22 Farms? Food is the easiest aquired of all resources because of NPC farming. You should be focusing on Iron and Lumber. I have a Lumber city that produces 1M Lumber per hour and an Iron city that produces 987k per hour. I use this to mass all troops.
11 Cottages.. seriously? 9 Cottages should be the maximum amount of Cottages you have (except for an Iron city), 9 lvl 9 Cottages can support 40,550 Population which is enough to pump out troops effectively.
Trenton, please come to S98 or S23 so I can watch you Fail at Evony.

lol… everything is common sense people… you’ll get it once you play… I advice though, if you’re planning to make many troops and waging war with other players… build all the farms you can… the more the better and conquer Lakes, lvl 10 is preferred…. take everylakes around…
Rajah

Rajah you are stupid. you don’t want a lot of farms.. at the beginning you want maybe 4… Then when you get ballistas, you farm NPC’s.. Preferably lvl 5′s.

Ok again everything that I was was terrible
Im not going to give you an exact how u do it but this is what you do.
First just follow quest until you have a good suplly of resources. Your fields should be if you want to be a great player 1 farm 1 quarry and 7 sawmills to 6 iron mines this is perfect for building archers later in the game you get food later by plundering npcs and you ccan buy food and rock early in anyways
then for your city dont build a storehouse and build everything else 9 cottages at first and 12 barracks later once your town is completely develope and you dont need the cottages get rid of 3 them and your inn and your stable to aloow you to have 17 barracks ive even got rid of my market later in game because i dont use it and i just keep one for safe hand in one of my other cities

You can come out of beginner protection with LVL7 walls and archer towers.
The trick is to not get side tracked into building what the Quest guide compels you too. You build barracks, but make NO TROOPS. Plow all resources into infrastructure (walls, resource fields, research, etc.) and utilize the “2 at a time” feature to the fullest. Use up your beginner guidelines right away. They’re useless later on. Use the rest as practical without wasting them.
I’ve got 12hours left on “2 at a time” building and have LVL 4 Town Hall, building LVL 7 walls, and have Lvl3 archery towers building.
I’ll probably be durable enough when coming out that I won’t be worth it. There will be NO PLUNDER, since I’ll have it plowed into the City and its defenses. I’ll probably be offered an alliance instead of being Suzerained.
Why would anyone waste the resources for no plunder??

Also the best bit of advice if you’re starting on a server a while after it has been opened, is take a look around and try to find the strongest alliance around you. Try to join as soon as you can and ask for resources, the extra resources really allow you to make the most of the two at a time building. If they don’t let you join then apply for the next strongest as so on. Alliances can give you great advice and help when you’re in trouble.
To join an alliance build an embassy and apply to join an alliance from there.

After playing for a couple years, and tens upon tens of millions of pres later… FOR the comments about the walls, yes you should build walls early in the game. How you build them, really is the key. BUILD a few thousand Traps & Abatis. WHY? Because these 2 items extend the battle field range that the enemy troop must travel to 5200 paces. Allowing for archer towers to take 3rd-4th-5th shots out.
Secondly heros’ and their armor make nearly half the game. Get your armor up & train faster troops, and hit harder as well.
People said to build walls FIRST. Well that all depends on 2 things. If you started on the server at the beginning or not, and your attack/defense strategy. When starting on a brand new server it is best to build your troops first, then get yourself your historical hero (because they disappear like hotcakes), and your resource fields. This allows for faster resources at earlier in the game, while sustaining troops that not much have. When starting a server late, it’ll be better to build your walls & city buildings first. Of course because you started late, and you your troops will be too weak.
Anyway you start, start with a full set of tools ready for your city. IE, face book postings that are kept for your beginning start, and friends ready to visit your city for quick resources at the start.
Personally, I’ve been on 2 Age I servers for a short 7 months before moving to the BETA server to NA1 as NATO admin, to NA9 as WARFARE2 admin where I am currently at.
As for city building…. I’ve seen some of you guys say build 10 cottages & 10 barracks, or 9 cottages.. Why build so much cottages? I only keep 4-6 cottages MAX in my cities, and 18-21 barracks, most are 20 barrack cities. Those who don’t know, get rid of your forge (after upgrading workshop all the way), your stable (after relief station is finished), Inn (don’t need every city to have one), and market (don’t need all cities to have one unless your spred apart. In some cases where you are purely developing troops, you can rid yourself of the relief station as well, adding up to 5 more barracks to one’s 16/17 barrack city.
60% wood 30% iron 10% food & 0 quarries. Buy your stone duh. Farm lvl 10′s for resources. Start with your lvl 4′s and 5′s with ballistas, but eventually that’ll turn to 7′s & 8′s, 9′s & 10′s. I send out 37k warriors to lvl7′s & always win with any hero, even one right out the inn.
