Evony ranks
Rank in Evony is pretty useless really, the only thing you need it for is to level up your title. I don’t know why the included the ranks in Evony at all, as it serves no other purpose than a prerequisite for something else, but maybe it will be used for something in Evony Age 2, who knows. Anyways, you start out in Evony as a civilian, and there are 6 ranks total. The other ranks you can get are lieutenant, captain, major, colonel and general.
To gain another rank in Evony you need to have a certain amount of prestige and you also need to spend some medals on the rank quest to level up. You actually loose the medals completing the quest, so do not complete the rank quests unless you have to cause of the requirement of the next title quest. The title is what let’s you build more cities, rank doesn’t really matter.

Their is a purpose to this! I once captured a lvl 65 hero, I couldn’t persuade him because I wasn’t a Major. Which sucked because he had an attack of 154!!

I look the ranks as a way to earn honor and prestige. Plus you need the ranks to move up to baronet, prince, etc. IMHO ranks are just another hurdle. Evony is constantly evolving. So maybe the designers, might put in some benefits to have the ranks (hint, hint)

How else is Evony going to make money then by adding more quests and hurdles…so that you will spend money

Rank seems to have an impact on the types of medals dropped in valleys and flats. Once your rank goes up it get tougher to get rose medals and you get more lion and honor
