Declining population
Many players find themselves having a problem with declining population in Evony. This can be a very bad thing for them as you need a high population for several things in Evony. Early on a new server having a high population is important to gain a good tax income, with a declining population you will loose tax income and not be able to grow as quickly as you would otherwise.
You also need a high population in Evony to have lots of idle population to recruit soldiers from. If you don’t have any idle population you are not able to build any troops at all. Declining population often comes from public grievance, which again can have several reasons. The most common reason for public grievance would be loosing attacks in your city and population starving. To fix public grievance and declining population you should do comfort relief, this will increase loyaly by 15 and reduce public grievance by 5. Another quick way to stop your population from declining is to just set tax rate to 0%. Keep it at 0% till declining population stops and population reaches maximum.

This isn’t helpful. Yesterday, TWICE, I came onto 0 population and 0 loyalty. What is causing this? Do the pop-ups with things like mauraders cause this?

Just change your tax rate to 0% until loyalty and population reaches max

I don’t think this actually works, I have reduced taxes from 20% to 15% and still no population change. It’d be nice if these wiki’s were actually helpful..

If it starts increasing again depends on public grievance and tax rate, set tax rate to 0% and keep comfort reliefing as the article says, that will help, it changes every 6 minutes not instantly.

Another reason is lack of living space. I have found the easiest way is to simply upgrade cottages and/or add more. As stated above this will insure a greater idle population for training troops and more income. However, the greater the population the smaller the need for taxation. A smaller tax percentage (10% is always good enough) will create stronger loyalty and less chance of population decline. This helped me in Age1 while I was getting pomelled by adversaries. Loyalty was regained quickly which made it even more difficult for my attackers to conquer.

There are some fascinating deadlines in this article however I don’t know if I see all of them middle to heart. There may be some validity however I will take maintain opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we wish more! Added to FeedBurner as nicely
