Commission quests

with 48 comments

Commission quests is a new feature of Evony Age 2. Commission quests are quests that you can offer to other players in reward for Evony game cents. At the moment there are only one type of commission quest you can offer other players, but I expect there to be more types of commission quests available in the future.

The quest type available now is the anti-colonization commission quest. What this does is that it lets another player help you in the uprising battle against your Suzerain and take your colonized city back. When you issue the quest you can choose how much the reward is, the better the reward is the more player you will probably get wanting to do your quest. The players interested will bid for the quest, and the winner will be the player with most experience worth of troops.

When you issue the anti-colonization commission quest the designated city will issue and uprising order automatically, and the quest will be available for 24 hours as a default. However, if you have manually executed the uprising order before starting the quest, the quest will only be available the remaining time of the uprising war. You can not issue a anti-colonization quest when there is less than 1 hour less of the uprising war. Once the quest is issued you can not manually resist your Suzerain, you have to wait for the troops of the player taking on your quest.

Commission quests is a really cool new part of Evony that came with Evony Age 2, and you should definitely check it out. It is a great way for players to earn Evony game cents now without paying for them.

  1. This looks like the best feature.
Finally your hard work ingame results in gamecents,
so you can overcome to some extend the enormous advantage “rich” kids have over the Average Joe.

Seeing that the definition of a cheat is “an unfair advantage over others”,
i would call this feature an anticheat.

    Now what’s needed,
it the ability to convert ingame gold directly into gamecents,
so only those players who are not so good, can and have to compensate their lack of skill with real money.

  2. If you need help in defeating the player that has colonized you, the Suzerain as he is also called, you should consider starting a commission quest. This will cost you some Evony cents, and these cents will go in reward to the player helping you in the uprising battle.

no money no help :( minimum 40 cents i believe

  3. This whole colonization/ anti-colonization is crap! Now I have to PAY someone, another bully no doubt, to get a bully off my back and keep him from leaching from my hard work? And you say this is an improvement? It’s friggin’ theft!

  4. how do you convert gold to coins I feel there should be more detailed information on this matter I see benifits for the colonizner and the fighter accepting the quest but not to much for the owner of the castle. seems that newbbes are have a difficult time fighting a member 5xs his size thats still bulling in my eyes there should be a prestige limit for this to be executed so larger players can fight there equal or greater for colonizing

  5. So I tried accepting the anti-colonization quest and could not because my Title (Baronet) was higher than the person colonizing my allies city… So it looks like the big “bullies” as they were called here can’t really get them.. unless your title is lower

  6. This colonisation feature stinks. How can a new player defend their city against a long established and hostile city? I’ll not pay for help against a bully and I don’t have sufficient strength to complete any commission quests to earn cents. If I could, I’d probably be able to defeat the aggressor on my own.
If, as currently appears likely, I get colonised, I’ll just give up on the game.

  7. Wow you’re really complaining about bullies? So ur sovereign takes 10%.. the old school attack, I’ve taken whole cities just to NPC them for the fun of it. In retrospect that’s pretty mean, but it’s part of the game. Conquer or be conquered. I think colonization is too easy, and they should bring back attack too.

  8. I accepted a commissioned quest from a alliance member. It took a few hours to go 2 miles to his occupied city. The quest timer stopped, but no battle occurred. After being released verbally by ally, I withdrew troops and he abandoned the city. Now the troops are home, his city is now a npc level 2 town, and the quest bar is still up and timed out. WTF is this? Need detailed directions in order to allow players to use this feature.I may never know what I did wrong, or right here.

  9. Well, I step into the same trap. As a new player the quests order me to do a Commission battle. In my stupidness I obey the quest and when it started, it shows that it is going to take 2h34m. It is now 16 hours later and all I see on top of my map is a orange bar that says nothing, except the name and grid reference of the “other person” When is the orange bar going to go away, or must I do something to get rid of it?

  10. Well, a few of my alliance members joined me in a commmission quest…Same thing happened, we sent the reinforcements, and the timer ended…Nothing happened…most of us recalled, but 1 stuck around almost 24 hrs to see what happens…Again, nothing, so I think it’s still a work in progress…bugged or whatever…Kinda ticks me off, cuz my troops were just camping there for nothing…Oh well…Patience is a virtue…

  12. Life and death is part of this game. You don’t like it WHY ARE YOU WHINING ON THIS FORUM LIKE A TWO YEAR OLD. These are likely the same people that cannot play video games without the cheat codes. Play the game, or quit. Stop being a Wussy!!!

  13. Please Evony dont allow the first city of a player to be colonised…. otherwise new players just wont be able to join an established game server. I’ve just come out of 7 day protection and have been colonised. No chance to do anything against 50k archers as a newbie. Alliances cant then help once youre colonised because you cant be reinforced. I’m going to give up on Age 2 and stick wiht age 1. This really is very poor and ill thought out

  14. I have spent lots of real money on the commission quests & each time they have been defeated but I am out of pocket (420 so far) I don’t like being bullied about have tried an uprising also to no avail, troops are being leached along with food making it more difficult to regain my territories. Once my prepaid coins are used up seriously considering of butting out.

    TomTheTaf

    5 May 10 at 1:50 pm

  16. I have done several commission quest battles with the bar just sticking and nothing happened, eventually i recalled my troops and received no game cents. All i got was a long march home. I read that another player spent game cents and did not get them back. So where do the cents go? This feature would be a great addition IF IT WORKED!!!!

  17. I completed a commission quest for a town not far away. It took 2 days and my troops just returned home. I did not recall them, but I did not get the coins for completing the quest. What’s up?

    Daky

    8 May 10 at 1:05 pm

  21. Just one question when the uprsing happens where does the battle take place the suzerain city or the collonized one?
aka how can the suzerain kick the living crap out of the uprising?

  24. as far as i can work out the commission quest battle happens at the end of the uprising.
-The orange timer is the commission countdown for players to bid
-The actual battle takes place when the uprising timer of the player who commissioned the said quest hits zero

i`ve just won a commissioned quest with the highest bid some 20million higher than 2nd place
    I`ll update you fingers crossed!

  28. I am someone who was colonized. It is a wimpy way for evony to make money. It is also a cowardly way to gain control over anoter player. Killing me should be the only option and being a man about it. Instead of a slave owner thug who bullies the locals for protection…

  29. I completed a commission quest, the issuer was freed. I never received a battle report or game cents. My 24 hour walk home was awesome because I put most of my army into the fight. The worst part of the whole quest is that I put in three different help desk tickets and all three were closed with no resolution. Great feature for the developers to earn money on I am sure, not so much for the players.

  30. I agree that the new “features” suck. I prefer the attack as well.

I will not pay into a game just so that I can play…which is what the company wants us all to do obviously.
Bullies as they have been called do have the unfair advantage having a head start on newer players like myself.

When they say “free” the never mean its totally free

  36. I have to point out to all the people that are calling people whiners that people are here to learn how to do something that this guide says it will show you.

It doesn’t. The person that wrote it may know what he or she is doing, but there idea of a ‘guide’ is less helpful and more hurtful than anything else.

First thing covered is how to initial an uprising, has to be done from the wor….. what? you can mouse over your city name in the city selection column and it will show you suzerain there.

Next, how about some actual q’s and a’s… Like “Gee, I’m in an alliance, can I use garrisson’d troops to assist in the uprising?

Okok I got it… Why doesn’t the person that proposes writing a guide go into evony and ummm ASK WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT and do that over and over and over and over until there couldn’t possibly be more questions and then write all the answers together…

We’ll call that…an FAQ on Colonization and Uprising. Maybe even make a website like that.. Let me know when there is one.

  37. Colonization is kind-of retarted I say. you only get a week of no-one attacking you. Meanwhile most people here have had weeks/months to build there city. The pyramid effect is in. Of course people coming in now arent gonna like/enjoy the game.
The games ok but could be better if they actually made it fair. As for troops being stuck Ive had that problem also an all that time on bulding those troops are lost. It would be nice to actually see a company fix there bugs instead of emailing us back saying its some-how our fault. BUt I gave up on these tiny companies cause in truth there all morons who dont care about fixxing anything they should fix.

  40. well, i see so many people complaining about being colonized by a bully… but if u r smart ( that i doubt it), u should be able to survive ur colonization and grow at the same time.
just put ur resources in the market at a high price( so nobody buys them), and when the suz takes 10 % of what ever is left out of the market then u have 24 hours to do your thing.
so, u take the resources from the market, by canceling the transaction, u build and upgrade everything, and when it is close to the 24 hours , hten u put everything in hte market again.
when yuo have all the buildiings upgrades to level 10,
then u can calculate how many resources u have and how many troop can u build at once, before the 24 hour has passed. then u generate and uprise on your city and battle for it.
now if your suz sees that you are building quick despite being under colonization, he might offer u a place on his alliance or he would likely set u free.
i now this, cause i was able to get free from a top ranking officer in an alliance by following this strategy. remember this is a strategy game…

so, being under colonization is a really nice thing, don’t u think

  41. This is the game. It is what it is. Do you play Monopoly and bitch the whole time that the Community Chest is unfair and that passing “Go” is for rich kids and cheaters?! Shut up and play or go find another game. I’ve never run across more people whining about the rules of a game that were in place when they chose to play it. I got suzed right out of protection. So what. I moved on, built a 2nd city and suzed another player. Now I’m either going to uprise in my first city or abandon it if I get too frustrated. It’s called PLAYING THE GAME. If you think you can make a better one, DO IT!

  43. it’s hardly whining, if you read the dates, they post in for quarter of LAST YEAR, there were ALOT of bugs in the system, the whole idea was new, and there was no instruction for the quests, and anybody complaining about whiners is the people they are refering to, without new comers it’ll just be five people who never do anything because they’re all just as powerful as each other, new blood is necessary for the game to work, and grow. anybody who doesn’t understand isn’t really all that welcome in the community, that isn’t a threat thats just how it works.

    Denakus

    18 Feb 11 at 3:07 pm

  44. Ok, I’m new blood to the game.

The colonize feature makes sense BUT there needs to be restrictions on high level players going after newbs right out of the 7 day protection slot.

Why not some limits like maybe you can’t colonize someone’s first city? Yeah yeah I know, join a good alliance and get help BUT how many good alliances will take on a newb with only 25K pres?

Nice move Evony. My city is being colonized, plus I lost all kinds of defense and personnel with no chance so I dropped my tax and production to zero just for spite(heh). I understand and agree with the feature but as a newb it makes me want to say $#%@ it and just quit playing.

*** If Evony wants to increase the player base, some kind of change is needed re: colonization vs newbs……………../shrug

    16 May 11 at 3:06 am

  46. The Commission Quest on na32 is working… your troops only stay until the quest is over, usually about 2-1/2 hours. You only get paid if you actually are in the battle. Otherwise, your troops take an hour to get home – from anywhere on the server – and you get no report. My question is this… what determines the experience level of your army for the bid? Mine was listed as having the most exp points but I didn’t win the bid. And I clicked it very near when it was posted.

  47. Just started this game, under seven days, but managed to get to a level, that allowed someone to attack/colonize me. Appears to me the only way to get out from under this tribute scenerio is t ohave alot of ‘cents’, which requires me to spend actual money with ‘Evony’. Brilliant, and impressive business model. Lure of free gaming, let highly experienced members bully on the helpless, with only recourse to salvage what a player has spent time building, is to buy ‘cents’ (yes they can be earned – but enough to successfully anti-colonize??…lol) and hope someone can help anti colonize your city. Some may walk away and say, what a waste of time….not me, I walk away, and this was time well spent observing and learning the brilliant business model Evony has implemented. Bravo!
