Evony Age 2 Guide

The swordsman is the defense foot soldier, but the troop type is not used much in Evony Age 2. Swordsmen are decent at attacking too, but most players in Evony Age 2 use pikemen instead as they are faster and fights enemy cavalry better. Swordsmen are slow to build and they move pretty slowly also. When it comes to defense in Evony Age 2, swordsmen aren’t much used either. The reason is that archers usually perform way better compared to the same number of swordsmen. Personally, I haven’t really used swordsmen much at all in Evony Age 2.

The pikeman of Evony Age 2 is a troop geared towards offense and also at taking out enemy ponies, cavalry and cataphracts that is. Pikemen are good at taking out enemy cavalry having a long reach and high speed. Enemy cavalry are often in front so the pikemen can hit them hard taking them out without being stuck fighting the enemy’s rainbow. To win the battle you should have about 50% more pikemen than your enemy has cavalry, if your enemy uses cataphracts you should have about 3 times as many. The pikemen of Evony Age 2 are much cheaper and faster to train than cavalry and cataphracts though, so this is not a bad ratio at all.

The worker is your most basic transport unit in Evony. You will pretty much only use them early on, as the transporters you will get later in the game are much better. Workers can only carry 200 resources each, which is way less than the transporters that can carry 5,000 resources. The worker is pretty useless in battle and dies very easily. All in all it’s pretty much the worst troop in Evony, and don’t build any more of them than just enough to build cities.

The warrior is the cheapest and quickest troop type to build in Evony Age 2, and I expect this to be a very popular troop type in Age 2 as it is in Age 1. Warriors are often called the suicide troop as they are extremely quick to train, and because of that it is a popular troop type to mass produce and use for suicide attacks.

Warriors are often used to get rid of enemy fortifications in a suicide attack before you send your real army in there. Often players also kill their warriors on other players to get rid of their honor points, honor points were really bad in Age 1 cause of the healing % being lower then, I think it’s the same in Evony Age 2. You also use warriors in your rainbow attacks for layering.

The scout is a very useful unit in Evony Age 2, and you want to have several of these in each of your cities all the time. The scouts are pretty weak when it comes to attack and defense, but their main purpose is to do scouting missions after all. The scouts also defend you against other players scouting your cities. You only need level 2 barracks to build scouts, and in my opinion getting a few 100 scouts is the first thing you should do starting up on a new Evony Age 2 server. Read the rest of this entry »

Archers are by far the most popular troop type of Evony Age 2, and it was the same in Age 1. The reason is simply that it is considered the best troop there is. Archers will perform better than pretty much any other troop combination your enemy can send at you. Archers are great both when it comes to PvP and PvE. People have been farming NPCs with archers for a long time, and no other troop performs as good as archers here. When you want to conquer these new historic cities of Evony Age 2, archers are also the way to go.

Both for defense and offense archers are really good, and I suggest you focus mostly on archers when it comes to the basic defense of each of your cities. You need level 4 barracks to build archers, so the first thing you should focus on when you build a new city is to get all the barracks to level 4.

The nation medals are the most powerful medals of Evony Age 2, and they can be found in the senior medal box. You can buy the senior medal box in the Evony store for 240 cents, or you can get lucky and get it from the wheel of fortune. Awarding nation medals to heroes will increase their loyalty by 60, but you should rather use them to gain ranks and titles. You need a total of 20 nation medals to gain the titles up to Prinzessin in Evony Age 2, 20 for the titles and 0 for the ranks you need.

I suggest you only attack level 10 NPCs when looking for nation medals, seems to be the only way to gain them that I’ve found at least.  If you have gotten nation medals from attacking so far this age, I’d be happy if you could post where it was from as a comment here, so I can make the Finding Medals in Evony Age 2 guide as up to date and accurate as possible.
