Cataphracts
Cataphracts, also called phracts, are the most deadly of your horseback units, doing both more damage and having more life than the cavalry. Cataphracts are quite a bit slower than cavalry though, but still fast enough to reach enemy archers and do massive damage to them. As with the cavlary you need to layer your cataphract attacks correctly. Since they are slower than cavalry you can layer cataphracts with both cavalry and scouts. It can also be a good idea to take out enemy layers with other troops in small suicide attacks before sending in the cataphracts, the phracts are really expensive and timely to rebuild after all.
If the cavalry reaches enemy archers without having to fight off enemy layers first they are extremely dangerous as you can see in the battle report above, 10k cataphracts taking out as many as 100k archers. In both this battle reports as well as the one below only cavalry is used as layering, I’d recommend using scouts as well and at least 500 of each.

In this battle report we take more losses compared to how many archers we kill. The reason is that the enemy’s troops are layered much better. The better enemy layering, or rainbow as it’s also called, the more losses we take. That is why I recommend taking out parts of the enemy layering with other attacks before sending in the cataphracts. Cataphracts are pretty awesome, but they take a long long time to rebuild if you loose them.

Um thats really good, hero was lower than defenders, and there is 348k archers. That is a very good outcome.
