Beacon tower
The beacon tower is quite an important building in browser game Evony. The beacon tower will warn you on incoming attacks on your city, and the higher the level of your beacon tower is, the more information you will get about the incoming attack. I advice you to have a beacon tower in each of your cities and get them to level 9 as quickly as possible. If you’re hardly ever attacked this isn’t very important, but most players are attacked now and then, and then it is a huge advantage to get as much information you can about the incoming army.
A level 1 beacon tower can inform you that troops are coming, but not how many. With a higher level beacon tower you can see who the player is that is attacking you. Even higher levels will inform you about what types of troops are coming and how many of each type of troop it is. With a beacon tower level 10 you will get information about which hero is leading the attack as well, and you can check up on the hero in the hero statistics.

Would be nice to have more detailed descriptions as to what level beacon tower can see what things. It’s all well and good saying get it to level 9 fast, but in the time that takes, where does one stand in terms of information gathered?

Example:
A level 1 Beacon Tower can only pre-inform you of invasion. To get more detailed information you need to upgrade it.
A level 2 Beacon Tower can analyze the purpose of the enemy, whether they come for scout, plunder, or conquer.
A level 3 Beacon Tower can foresee the arrival time of the enemy.
A level 4 Beacon Tower can foresee the lord’s status of the enemy.
A level 5 Beacon Tower can advise the departure location of the enemy.
A level 6 Beacon Tower can foresee the arms branch of the enemy.
A level 7 Beacon Tower can foresee the approximate numbers of the enemy.
A level 8 Beacon Tower can foresee the exact number of the enemy.
A level 9 Beacon Tower can see the level of the Hero leading the charge.
A level 10 Beacon Tower can foresee the military technology level of the enemy.
You only really need to know the info up to lvl 8, but lvl 9/10 its a nice plus.

You also need high level beacon tower or you informatics when scouting will be nearly useless. If you scout a lvl 10 npc with lvl 10 informatics and lvl 1 tower you will get no info.

If you have lvl 10 informatics and lvl 2-7 beacon and you scout a lvl 10 npc you will not get enough intel to attack with confidence. I did not get any difference in intel for lvl 8-10.
