Attack button of Evony Age 2

with 116 comments

Many Evony Age 1 players have complained that there is no attack button in Evony Age 2. In Age 1 they were used to being able to both plunder other players cities for resources as well as conquering them and making them their own. In Evony Age 2 the game developers decided to get rid of the attack button and switch it out with the colonization button when you select other players cities.

Having no attack option has made Evony Age 2 a much easier place for new players, since you can keep your resources safe and there is no way for other players to steal your resources or capture your cities. Many players feel this make Evony Age 2 too peaceful however, and would like to bring the attack and plunder option back.

Yesterday Foxybunny, Vice Development Director Assistant of Evony, started a thread in the moderated feedback forum about this topic. She says that: “I know this is one of the hot topics lately, and I want to give you a place to discuss it. Those of you in this forum have shown an amazing ability to post coherent, logical, thoughtful, and courteous discussions. We appreciate that and we do listen!

While I cannot make any promises about this issue, I want you to know that the dev team has been discussing it a lot lately and is working on finding a solution that will be appropriate for the game but will also satisfy the majority of our players. You are welcome to put forth your own thoughts on this. We like hearing what you have to say.”

I think it is great that the game developers are interested in hearing what the Evony players have to say about this topic, and that they are considering bringing back some form of attack option to Evony Age 2. It will be interesting to follow the discussion in the thread and see what Evony decides to do about it. I’m also interested in hearing what the readers here have to say about this topic, so please do leave a comment!

  2. Since Age 2 is trying to accomodate both expert and new players…. perhaps an attack button can be used when a certain level is reached and only on certain levels. That might satisfy the learning phase and the experienced players’ desires.

  3. Look I have not decided as to which is better. It seems to me that you have changed from Evony 1 which was An RTSW (Real Time Strategy War Game) to Evony2 which seems to be more of an RTSP ( Real Time Strategy Political Game) what I mean by this is in the original evony it was all about attack and destroy. Now with the new colonization option it makes it more of a political thing in the sense that you have to take over a nation and force them under your Tyrannical rule. I mean it is a great concept but I feel you should have the option of destruction or rule. That would make this game Super awesome .

  4. I am a fairly new player to the game, but must agree with Nathan that it seems to be only an organisation and political game. Not sure if this is a good suggestion as i am still learning the ins and outs of the game, but would a system of only attacking an opponent within a certain amount of prestige of your own work? That way new players would only be able to attack each other, and when they did, they would gain the prestige to be bumped up to fight against slightly better players etc etc. =D

  5. I see a few good ideas, and ones I have had myself. The problem with ‘bullying’ was not that people could attack, it was that people could take all but one of your cities and then reduce that final city to a burned out cinder. While this is a realistic capability, given the historical time-frame of the game, it is not conducive to bringing in new players. In addition, it does not take into consideration the LOSS of prestige a lord would have in reality for razing the city of a bachelor knight without just cause. That lord would have likely been successfully sued and reparations paid. To bring the game play into a more realistic framework which is attractive to all players, there needs to, in the least, be a penalty for attacking a player much weaker than yourself — even for colonization. In addition, you can give bonuses for successfully attacking a stronger player. More later, but I don’t want to write a novel right now ;-)

  6. I’ve only just started playing Age II but have a lot of experience with Age I and the crazy competitiveness is what made me leave. I like to build my cities and do my thing without having to worry about being taken down by someone that thinks I said something wrong in the world chat (for example).
I think the easiest solution would be to have an option to choose to be a peaceful city builder and play the game as it is now or be a warlord and play with an attack/plunder button. Only those that have chosen to be a warlord can be attacked thus leaving the peaceful cities to do their thing.
It would have to have some kind of time delay to turn it on and off so that people didn’t choose it, attack someone and then choose to be peaceful again, perhaps have a minimum of a few days or a week once you check the option to war.

Just my humble opinion from one Game Developer to Others.

  7. Perhaps certain worlds could be combat worlds and certain other worlds be peaceful worlds. Then player’s could readily choose. The teleportation ability would have to be altered somewhat so that player’s couldn’t fly in and attack and then leave in just a moment. The purpose of the war worlds would be to take and hold land.

  8. Go at it like other MMO’s. Have seperate PvE & PvP servers.

  9. I do beleive that there should be sometime of way to attack your enemy – but maybe put some kind of limit on it. I was on Evony server 125 for only 3 months before some bully took my city because I landed next to his. I don’t believe that one should beable to take a city from you and leave you in ruins. I agree with the other comments of using a prestige limit for players to attack eachother, and lose prestige for attacking the smaller players. I too like to play the game in peace but with out the option of a good war, it does not make much of a game.

  10. I am a complete newbie to the game, I started on Evony 1 had no idea what I was doing, but like most games followed the tutorials, and wahay I was building a city and a small army I really enjoying getting into the game, then my 7 day protection ended, I took over a flat like the tutorial said, then in the morning logged in to find a lvl 59 had taken everything, great game I thought, newbies build up to feed up the higher ranks, the enjoyment soon went, and thought what now, all the forums rave about higher lvl’s kicking the crap out of newbies, well if like me all the newbies leave, then there is not much of a game left, o and I wonder if a higher lvl gets the crap kicked out of him, and looses everything and has to start form scratch, and been playing for years because of a alliance upset, they would not be to happy, just give newbies a chance to settle and build up, 7 days is crap to learn the game, by the sounds of it, it can take months its a great game apart from lag, but you have to make it enjoyable to all parties, just cap lvls say a lvl 15 can only be attacked by a rival lvl 15-16 ect, then the big boys can kick crap out of each other and moan about it on the forums, and when us newbies are more experienced in the game, we can then join in…… i should imagine i will get shouted down buy a long playing veteran about thats war, how many real wars have you served in, and buddies real war is not that great you loose real friends and mean bloody good freinds!! and then rave about a computer game being close to war ooo noooooooo, its a game a bloody good game, just make it enjoyable for everyone…

  11. I think Evony has done a great job with Age II’s politically-oriented combat system. Dog-Eat-Dog Age I is just no fun for somebody who isn’t into power tripping and absolute destruction.

If you get ALL your jollies from flexing your e-muscle and kicking over other people’s sand castles, stay in Age I.

There are a few issues with the standard Age I carryovers into Age, however. With no real Attack/Plunder between human players, Warehouses, Stockpile and Privateering are 100% useless. And slow Transports are much less useful than they used to be.
The only reason for investing any time, resources, and space into them would be for those players who want to complete all Quest objectives.

  13. As a experienced Age1 player I’m very disappointed in Age2. It has numerous fantastic improvements but the one major negative is the No Attack/Plunder button. I wholeheartedly agree that under Age1 new players were at a huge disadvantage and if started on a server that had been online for over a month was almost doomed to failure. BUT without the ATTACK button Age2 is very a lame game and you might as well go play Farmville on Facebook! Suggestions to improve:
    1) Bring back Attack/Plunder same rules as Age1 but limit ability to attack other players with no more than 100K below you until they reach 1M in Prestige – this would help protect beginners.
    2) Keep Colonization but only for single city players but get rid of the Suppression/Rebell/Handover phases USELESS!
    3) Bring back ability to build NPC – you still need to farm resources to build with not just feed armies.

I like the hero limits and think this was a very good idea – instant troops is silly!

  15. I’ve played both versions of Evony and while I understand the arguments of those calling for a return to the attack button I have to say I disagree.

I think the new approach will change game play in interesting ways. This will shift the battles from players cities to the NPCs which are still attackable and capturable.

This idea of protectorates brings a new deeper dimension to the game. Think about it for smaller players being captured (and protected) by a bigger player is a good thing in a sense. The captured player just pays 10% of their resources and the bigger player’s army is then the one who defends if the smaller player is attacked.

This is a new thing in Evony and could be pretty cool to see how it unfolds. This moves the CAPTURE of cities out to NPCs which you only get by capturing in in the first place. You don’t lose your city you’ve built with blood/sweat/tears to some 24/7 Evony player with no life besides sitting there and rocking on the game. Not to mention the issues of money being spent on the game and also the cheats that have been available in the past.

I think we should accept this is a new game. People are always SOOO resistant to change. I see it all the time in my business. It freaks people out but 9 out of 10 times it’s the best thing for them.

I hope Evony doesn’t cave to all the loud mouths and sticks with their original plan.

  16. I used to play civony and evony, got my 10 cities and well there wasn’t much else to do except for players to harrass each other.

competition is a natural human instinct, check out http://www.playnileonline.com and http://www.ikarium.com for a few ideas.

Having the ability to attack and control common areas in the game to get dominance and more resource would be good but having someone “Cat” your city demotivates most players.

A player must be able to continually develop just like in real life.

Individual and group challenges would develope the need for alliances to work together.

    cheers

  17. I’ve read alot of good suggestions here and I’m the type of player that I like to build but I also really like the attack option. Otherwise what are you going to do once you’ve taken all your cities and they are all maxed out…game over? It would be. In ageI I was however on the receiving end of that in the beginning…so I also understand how it feels to have what you spent forever building up torn down and all your resources gone. Big players farm smaller players for resources and something does have to be done about that. The colonization however just doesn’t have the same effect. It’s boring..there is no real risk there. In order to be a WAR game and not just a political spinoff from the original Evony…there needs to be some kind of middle ground. I like the suggestion to limit the use of the attack button to players over a certain level. I also suggest that maybe colonization has more of an effect. Maybe a higher percentage of resources to the suzerain and the ability to pick troops that are drafted. One thing I don’t really think alot of people have realized in the game is that if you are the suzerain and someone attacks that city…it is the suzerain’s troops that fight the battle. So in effect the person colonized is actually under the protection of the suzerain..so it’s not one sided. Colonization could actually be viewed as the exchange of resources/troops drafted…for protection. I really like AgeII but I also have issue with the not being able to build npc’s and keep them on the map. I know AgeII advertises no farming and I also realize that food requirements have been cut in half from what they were on AgeI…but in order to have a substantial army you need to be able to farm. I would love to see the the 8 hour suppression gone as well as the 24 hour abandonment period. I agree that they are totally useless. Another option could be to extend the length of beginner’s protection…any player can leave bp early so why not give them longer to build up and they can leave when they are ready.

  18. My ideas:
1, Give beginners the option of extending the protection if they so wish. (maybe a month or so)

2, Once up to 4 cities are built then a player can only be reduced to 1 city then not be able to be attacked. When over 4 cities are built / captured then they can only be reduced to 2 cities then not be attacked.

This would keep the fun of attacking in whilst protecting less advanced / experienced players.

  19. I think a good compromise would be keeping your home (or original) city safe from take-over; only colonization would be allowed. Your expansion cities, however, would be fair game.

  21. I agree that the attack/plunder option needs to be brought back. Here’s some suggestions:
-Players under a certain prestige can be made off limits to the vet players as to allow them to build up defenses and their armies.
-After a player has been conqured, then give them the chance to rebell and or overthrow and take their city back.
-The ability to build NPC’s is a must. How are we expected to feed 500k+ troops if we can’t farm NPC’s and plunder other players?

I do see the need for some changes from Age 1, but keep in mind, vets like myself have invested alot of time, effort and money in Age 1. Most of us enjoy the risk of losing it all. That’s what makes the game exciting.
Yes, there are players out there that stomp on newbs, but there are others like myself that take them in, train them, and help them out with the game. Don’t penalize the vets because the newbs are crying. We were all newbs at one time. Some just need more time to learn the ropes. Why not give an option to extend the beginner’s protection if someone isn’t ready for the battlefield by a week.

  22. No, just no, when it comes to the issue of bringing Attack & Plunder to Age II. You anti-social testosterone-spraying e-tough guys have Age I to enjoy and get your rocks off with. Stay out of Age II and leave it as it is. The introduction of ANY Age I Attack & Plunder into Age II, even with limits and restrictions, will just dumb the game down into another senseless slug-fest.

Allow Age II to be its own peaceful game. Give Age I the FB linkage and FB Ally benefits and Free Gifting features that Age II has. THAT’S what these attack-happy people really want. If not, why would they even bother with peaceful AGE II when Age I supposedly satisfies them to begin with?

  23. i agree that the attack button needs to come back because with the way it is it leaves to many ppl with no help and then also just colonizing ppl isnt fun it was the thrill of think what u needed to take a city down that made this game fun

  24. Not having the attack button and just colonizing people, made Evony Age II so boring. I just have troops sitting in my city doing nothing because I dont wanna colonize these little cities around me because they give me nothing. I wanna be able to take there city, and then move it. So I think they should bring the attack button back. Or make it so they can take ur city after so many days.

  25. I have tried on 2 occasions to play on Evony and although i fast became a high level player, Constantly being attacked and plundered by stronger alliance, made me quit Evony forever. I loved the development part of the account, but havening to be on constant guard in fear of lossing all my hard work made me realize that this game was not what I wanted. Evony should have 2 types of servers, like some other online multiplayer games have. Servers for PvP and some servers for safe playing away from constant plundering. It’s just a though, but it has kept me playing Runscape for 8 years now :)

  26. Well I guess these people have not looked at age much at all. Because you still can attack. You just have to click colonize and go to the drop down menu and click attack. They really need to loom at this game more before posting this stupid crap. And even if there was no attack button then it would not be the end of the world like you people are making it out to be.

  27. I have played Evony 1 for months and then switched too Evony 2 The attack/plunder button was a great thing in Age 1 My suggestion is to be able to attack/plunder only when in an alliance war, was the alliance’s become friendly or neutral the option to attack isn’t there any more.

  28. i agree with some of the other player that a level should be set so that you can attack an be attacked what i found in evony one was that a new member didnt have a chance after 7 days no matter what he did again members who had very large armies or resources so i hope ypu come up with a fair solution

  29. i think that there should be an attack botton and you should be able to plunder other cities. this is a war game that has no war i have invested to much money in a war game that does not war anymore. if they cant hack the game let them leave and the ones that want to play war games let them stay.

  31. Well I feel like this can be a good and bad thing. I played evony 1 almost 4 months straight and reached a 250,000 prestige and then one day someone decided to attack me 270times in a row. I checked and they were 1 million plus prestige. Their was nothing I could do to stop the attackers. So when it was all said and over with I lost 4 months of my life. So needless to say I like that you cant be farmed you whole time and money out of the game. I think the attack button is a good part of the game but it needs limits.

  34. i agree with every comment, but you should make the attack/plunder for waring alliances only and anyone over a certain prestige is allowed to attack or be attacked my members are getting board with ageII and playing more on age1, and complaining that theirs too much politics and not enough fighting, and besides it will make having a historical city more interesting, keep the colonization for the noobs and let the pros attack i feel like im drowning lol

  36. I agree with some others and actually posted this long ago. Make it so high lvl players, can attack other high end players, but thy cannot kill off the newer guys. Set some point past which you enter the PVP world. like TH lvl7 or 8 or or better yet a set prestige level. Since you get prestige for building troops as well as everything else, thats a good place to work from. Set i at 100,000 or in evony2 maybe 2-300,000 since its much faster to gain there. @ weeks and I am close to 300k. Onvce a player reaches that point there is no going back, you are PvP whether you want to or not. If you wish to colonize and play politics then keep troops low and don’t do some of the quests. Easy enough.

I like evony2 except the fact that if a colony goes into an uprising there seems to be no way to reinforce. A colony of mine, guy had around 2k troops, went into uprising and within 2 hours, I had lost 15k+ troops from my home city and he still had ll his troops. If I had not had a strat to dump the colony instantly I would lost all I had. So I am not colonizing anymore unless they have quit the game lol.

  37. I’m a big fan of not being able to take over other players’ cities. That was the reason why I quit Age I in the first place. I built up my first city, spent lots of time and effort in the game (not to mention money) then started a colony. My first city was taken. I was left with just the colony and a lingering sense of hatred and futility. Technically speaking, there is no way to win or lose the game, but I really felt like I had wasted my time on the game. If Age II starts allowing cities to be taken, it’s only a matter of time before the same thing happens again. I know there will no doubt be disparaging remarks, or thoughts at least, about people like me who prefer diplomacy to warfare. I’m not against player vs. player battles. I just think that the rules should either be (A) Don’t allow players to take away other players’ cities, or (B) Allow players to take ALL of another player’s cities, even the last one.

  39. I feel if players want an attack button then go back to age 1 i think the developers are trying to please everyone and this is a good place learn the game and if they want to switch over to age then let them have the opportunity to do so. this way you can attract more and new players seasoned to the game with an attack button.

  40. I’m all for the “no need to farm npc’s” but the way they have it now is kind of redundant. I got wiped out and lost cities in Age I, and I wiped out many others and took many cities as well. I do like being able to build up my own npc farm field around me to prevent big, cash paying, players from teleporting in next to me so that they can crush me. Right now there is a discussion in the threads about having a “Conquest mode” optional feature in Age II and I think it’s a great idea. Even have a 8hr+ cooldown period from swapping back to Colonization mode so that you can’t just go conquest, attack a bunch of players, and then jump back to colonization.

I had an evony staff member in my alliance back in Age I, and he used to tout that Evony was a byzintonian age (sp?) game whenever someone said this was a war game. I asked him what that meant exactly and he said (not exactly) “That this game is more of a diplomatic game, not war” to which I asked a few simple questions, mainly to grow, do we have to wipe out those around us and oppress them so that they cannot rise up and do the same to me, things along that line. His answer was yes. My reply was: This is a war game. Sure there is diplomacy in it, and you have to conquer valleys etc to help boost your resources, but the core value of Evony is WAR. Alliances go to war against each other, with your extra cities in the offering to the victor. Accept it, bring back conquesting players!

  41. I am playing Evony two and I am already feeling bullied. One player scouts me twice a day killing my scouts. I have allied troops camping in my city which is why he has not colonized me yet. But he does this because I am new and he has 3 or more cities any of which can take me down. Not fair at all. I would gladly lose a war to a like player or even once to a bigger player but to be repeatedly attacked by a bully takes the fun out of it. As Masdose pointed out those who want to bully can still play age 1.

  42. Read through the Evony moderated forum, to find that a member under 30 days cannot post. So as an fb player that leaves me out. The folks responding appear to be Evony players as opposed to me who came to the game from fb.

I played Evony 1 months and months ago before I joined fb. Didn’t like Evony 1. Joined fb to play games that give me enjoyment. I’m not certain I like Age 2 yet, but it seems much more my style than Age 1.

I don’t want conquest. I have games I play of fb that give me that without having to participate a heinous number of hours a day.

It would seem to me that Evony should keep Age 1 and Age 2 separate.

  43. I really hate the no plunder/no attack. I played on Evony AgeI and that is what made the game fun because peeps just come back for revenge once the get built up. I think taking this Attack Button out of the game is the worst idea yet. Beginner and advanced players all had to start on ground zero in the game when joining AgeII. So what would be the problem of the attack button? Idea don’t understand!!! Why take the fun out of the game to make it harder to like the game? I personally love AgeI. I have a AgeII account but the tactic’s in that suck point blank. I love the add ons though. Just the Attack method sucks & is not interesting to me and many others.

  45. I agree so much with patty-0-. This is a war game, the point is to attack, and take cities. Sure it is fun to just sometimes sit back and just build. But if you get attacked, deal with it. I had to in evony1, i started in December months after it came out, and i was attacked a lot, and i attacked a lot. And i had 7 cities at one point, and lost them all besides one. And i didnt complain one bit. Also u people that hate on people to spend a little money in there lives on some fun stuff, and actually have fun competing for the top spot need to get outta the house and get a job. Im only 16 and i spend a little money on things that are fun, and i enjoy that.

  47. Iv just started playing Evony Age 2 I think an attack button would be good, but as ARTCHA says it shud be set up so players who are at higher levels can only attack each other, also if a player attacks a city he shud only be able to control that city and not totaly destroy it, of course some destruction is part of it but full shud not be allowed also smaller kingdoms shud be able to ally and pool ther prestige to attack higher lvl players who are bullying weaker players.

  49. I feel as though the game has really lost something, understanding as well that there needs to be something done for the weaker players.

My thoughts, prestige seems to be the problem here, the more prestige I had in age 1 the more comfortable I was. With that being said, we should all think about this. There could be something set for only players with a certain amounts of prestige that can attack the same levels. ie 0-20k, 20k-50k 50k-100k and so on. Then ending at a certain amount of prestige say 1mil.

At the same time have some alliances that are preset friendly with everyone and making the rules to join something like this.
1-You may only join this alliance after your last offensive attack has been 72 hrs.
2-You may only join this alliance once a month
3-You may only join this alliance four times a year
4-You may only attack after a two week waiting period after leaving the alliance.

If someone wants to just stay in an alliance like that, they can and they will able to enjoy the game with the rest of us.

I my humble opinion that maybe the best of both worlds.

  50. Evony II is a huge improvement to me. I’ve quit Evony I months ago, because I lost several times my primary city. I am a part time player, cannot follow 24/7 what happens with my cities, and this was used by some players. Evony II is great!

  51. I played Age 1 for about a month, built up a war machine with Prestige of 400K. Because of that I became a threat to a large alliance in my area and would not join them, they grouped up and wiped me out. They also attacked multiple times when I was off line. I am sorry that I don’t have 24/7 to give to a great game, wish I did. If the attack option is added to Age2, it has to have limits to make the game fun for everyone, not just the experienced players. I know there has to be a way for Evony to make money, but the way it is Age 1, players could basically buy their win. One of the main reasons I like WOW is because I can go offline, sleep, take a day off, and not come back to everything I have worked for to be lost. If there is an attack option, it has to have a limit that you could only attack a certain % lower than you and when a team attack, the combined prestige total is a factor. Age 1 was a fun game for the most part, but the wipe out attack and being attack when I was offline, made me quit the game

  53. I just want to add another voice to this topic. I played age I for months and loved it up to the point when i found myself needing to farm 20 level 10 npc’s just to feed a massive army that really couldn’t even conquer other players of similar strength. The farming became redundant and the challenge seemed pointless so I quit. I was excited about age II and I think there are some great changes, love the historics and the heroes, etc., however this no attack system really leaves me disheartened and I have already quit wasting my time colonizing someone just for a few resources. The thing I dislike the most is when a player attacks and takes ur valleys you now can’t do anything to him other than colonize him and if he’s a newer small player there really is no point. I’m still going to play in the hopes that something is done to make this more of a WAR game and because i’m interested in what the historics will bring to the game. I really hope the staff is paying attention to all the complaints and finds a reasonable solution to both protect the new players and satisfy the bigger players.

  54. i wrote a short while ago that i thought there should be an attack button.
well im back to say i was wrong, while i was playing ageII i noticed that something strange was happening an awful lot of players seemed to know each other, now while this in and of itself is not a problem,i did notice that quite a few seemed to be ganging up on other players, and not in the game allience way.
its just that it seemed to me to be gang like in its way, more like a clique, than just people that met each other randomly and i gotta tell ya their gonna ruin it again for your other players, while i do think that theres fun in a bit of healthy competition the way these people came across as if they only wanted their own people in the game, i think if this is allowed to carry on word will very quickly get around that this is not the game that one would want to be playing

  56. I for one agree with the changes that evony has made the colinized option makes attacking newer players useless because you get a low tribute and have to protect them thus forcing players to attack large targets to make it worth while. Grow some and attack stronger players and you will be surprised how good the tributes can get.

  57. First of all what alot of you people are missing is this is a game that generates someone income. So although you “hardcore” folks like to duke it out. Its not the most profitable. The more people they get to play the game, the more people spend money on it.

Here is my suggestion. Instead of having the battles fought at someones doorstep, why not fight on a neutral battlefield? Either one on one, or your whole alliance verses another one. This would prevent peoples cities from getting trashed and would keep a far amount of combat in the game. Also why not make cities that are Allianced owned. Meaning there would be one capital city for every alliance. Your alliances job is to defend that city. This again would make the game alot more exciting and would prevent people from getting trashed.

  58. i think that a conquest sorta mode would be good, or they could have an option to where you want to be able/ have your citys able to be taken, i think that would be the best solution because it gives people time to build up and if they want to they can enter it and have that option to take/lose citys..it would really help because it is the players decision and would stop all the complaining.

  59. i left evony 1 due to over the top attacking there should be an opt in/out button those that wish to plunder and devour and those who want to enjoy building and tasking.if you click the opt in for ruling others/or enjoy and build having a 7 day period so you cant just attack then opt out and vice versa,or a free “teleport out of trouble” to a state where you cant be devoured.allowing the slower ones to build up.

  60. I think they should bring back the attack button because it is one of thefun things about the game.. now it seem almost like a chatbox with some clicking action and animation to keep u busy while waiting for ur friends to come online..

I do think however that there should be a system where new players come in on a lower server and build up their prestige, find a good alliance n learn to play the game.. Next step should be that there is a maximum prestige per server for alliances as a whole or individual players allone (maybe with a warning periode before progressing to the next server/level)… this way they progress naturaly to a new server where the competition will be challeging and they cant bully new players out of playing the game.

Maybe this way it will stay fun for everybody and a challenge to get to the higher servers.

    Amsterdammer

    16 May 10 at 10:01 pm

  61. in addition i think the alliance should progress be able to the next level if one player reach the prestige limit of the server but it should also be posible for that player to progress by him/her self if the rest of the alliance dont feel they ready to progress yet. It should be up to them to deside.

  62. Age II, is horrible if you’ve played Age I. The whole concept has changed. Yes it is very competitive, but what game do you play that isn’t? Farming sucks in it also but it’s better than just building and building for no apparent reason like Age II. I still have het to figure Age II out! Only thing I have figured out is I dumped it in favor for Age I.

  63. I think they should set it up so that way if two people decide to declare war they can take each other city’s but if you declare on a individual person you just become the suzerain of the city i think this would be a good to accommodate both people and make it so they can only declare war on a person in a certain prestige limit but if they declare war all of the other team is a candidate to be attacked.

  64. I just decided to play Age II to get a feel for the game and it leaves much to be desired. The fun of Age I is the fact that you could plunder and take down those around you. Age II leaves you with a so-so feel for the game. I liked being able to attack, attack, attack and Age II doesn’t have the same excitement that Age I has.

  65. I played evony age 1 for a long time, the only thing that stopped me playing was the inability to go ofline without being attacked, although i could hold my own well when playing, my rivals worked out whwn i was offline and tried to attack me when vulnerable.this actualy caused me to lose sleep, and be checking my cities at 2 am .The new age should still incorporate attack and plunder, but should have a cooling to go offline period, when if no attacks are sent out , you can go into a safe mode to go offline, where you are protected. Also the ability of aliances to buddy up should be curtailed, as i ended up stuck in a political nightmare of freindly guilds,vs anyone else, ie be on the bully team or be bullied, which sucked, and made me want to stop playing. All aliances should be at best neutral, and cross alliance teaming up should stop

  66. How about allowing you to capture the city after, let’s say, four failed revolts.. And then only be able to keep a certain amount of them, the rest will become NPCs or disappear leaving a flat (probability generate that)..

And make it 30 percent of your something something, not prestige as all players don’t use that concept. Find something that will work for all instead, maybe you can bind it to quests? And make it at least, somewhat, fair to those without the ability to pay too, so that all feel they have that possibility.

Then we all can have some fun. The biggest fans will disappear if you suddenly lock it up to only payable accounts, and you will lose your ‘edge’ on the net..

    Cheers.

  68. When you get into a good alliance, having multiple cities and being able to attack your enemies s a good thing….

Unfortunaetly, in Age I, the powers in charge decided that our citis had to be redistributed onto a new server. When an alliance I’d been in for over SIX MONTHS broke into two factions, part of my circle of friends decided to take my cities b4 I turned around and attacked them.

I lost every hero I’d ever developed, including a Level 300+ NPC 10 farmer, and they were gone even after my friends appologized and gave my cities back.

It wasn’t the cities I lost that turned me off from playing Evony…but the time and effort i spent on leveling heroes was unrecoverable.

The fact that there IS an option to retain my cities–AND my hard work–is reason enough to give this version a try.

  69. I fully understand the need to have some form of protection for the novice players getting use to Evony and how to play. However, a war based game such as this needs to have some form of attacking. There could be ways to create an attack mode as with the colonize. If players were to declare war or an alliance as a whole, then an attack button would be available to attack only players within a prestige grouping. Example, a player has 125000 prestige and therefore can “attack” players between 115000 and 135000 prestige, or a 90000 prestige player could attack 80000 to 100000 prestige. Just a thought.

  70. how bout some age 2 servers are servers with colinization, some however, attack and plundering. Split it up. For those who enjoy attacking and plundering, have certain servers for them, those who dont, they have the other servers. Or if this is too complicated, have the ability to take someones city, at the end of suppresion. Say i have the title Marquis, with only 6 cities, and i colinize someone with more than 1 city. the one that i colinized should be mine.

  72. I played on AgeI for about 3 months and had nearly 500K pres before one of our alliance members pi$$ed off the biggest alliance on the server. This alliance was also the primary alliance in a coalition consisting of 8 of the top 20. Two days later, our alliance was ashes and soot. I don’t like bullies and I don’t like coalitions but I understand that they are a port of the game. But Colonization seems to make things like Warehouses superfluous (unless I’m missing something, which is highly possible). Also, it doesn’t appear that you can reinforce an alliance member to help with uprisings and fighting off supression (unless there is a certain time window we’re not getting). I think Colonization and Attack should both be available, however and things need to be clearer about what can and can not be done when an ally is colonized. Under the old plunder rules, if you went into War Reports, you could see if an ally was being killed and you could reinforce him witha surprise or two before his gates auto opened at 5 loyalty. Getting plundered to zero waqs cause for many people to quit so maybe there should be a cooling off period between attacks. Maybe you can only attack someone 100 times in a day if your pres is equal. Using that as a base, if another player has 10% the prestige you do, then you can only attack him 10% of the norm if you were even (10 times per day or week or whatever). Also there should be penalties for attacking someone so much weaker than you. But thos penalties would have to mean something in terms of troops losses/desertions, hero loyalty/effectiveness, etc. Basically, if you’re going to be an @$$hole, people should know it and treat you accordingly. Maybe each time a player preys on someone weaker than themselves, they accrue a disaster point (based on just how much weaker per pres, troops, honor, etc). When so many disa ster points are accrued, an earthquake wipes out buildings, troops, and pop. You could rid yourself of disaster points by attacking people stronger than you. And disaster points are accrued/diminished based on who the ATTACKER is. I was hit twice by 100K warriors. Wiped them out each time, no prob. I wasn’t the idiot who attacked with 100K warriors. So Why did I lose pres/honor? And why does having high honor mean that your troops die instead of get wounded? OK, this is long enough. I’ve had my rant. I’ll shut up now.

  73. Having played both ages i have noticed that players are building up and because there is no real war that many players are leaving. I have been in 3 alliances on my server and there is not much chat. when i started evony 16 months ago there was much more support and a team (alliance) effort to support weaker players and have battles with other alliances. The camaraderie developed by players within an alliance meant more players being more active. I understand that there needs to be a middle ground between attacking, colonizing etc but i think that the people who are complaining about attacks etc should be playing farming games as i dont really see the point of building defences and armies if they dont intend to use them. I hope that the devs take all this into account. I was able to use plunders etc to help myself grow when i first started(in older servers) and used it to become a warlord and then support and protect others in my alliance.I enjoy the evony game but we need something to keep us interested and colonising is not doing it.

  74. I have played Evony Age 1 and i liked it at the beginning but it came to the farming that made the game so boring. The NPC farming was a good way for making bigger troops but only people who stays at home long time can do this farming; so longer you at home stronger you will be; that doesnt make the game fair for everyone. I was very happy that it said ” NO MORE NEED OF FARMING IN EVONY AGE II” BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE A LIE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE IT, THEN ANOTHER THING CAME UP; YOU CANT TAKE ANOTHER PEOPLES CITY. AND I ASK YOU THIS QUESTION WHO IS WORKING FOR EVONY AND READING THIS:
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF WHEN YOU MADE THIS THING IN EVONY AGE II. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT PEOPLE WILL LIKE IT THIS WAY… I HAVE HEARD COMPLAIMENTS ABOUT THIS AND I NEVER HEARD 1 PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY LIKE IT THIS WAY. WHY DO WE PLAY IF WE CANT ATTACK OTHER PEOPLE AND PLUNDER OR TAKE THEIR CITY?

But I will wait a little more and give evony another chance to see if they are changing this. A good advice to you Evony Makers; make the Evony Age II special and make it so people like it and enjoy it, by bringing back the attack option and plunder option and your next step should be farming problem.

  75. The general consensus among my alliance is that Colonization stinks. We understand that colonization is a way to help newer players to not be bullied but we would rather hunker down behind closed gates and hide resources in warehouses. Colonization might be a nice change to the “Takeover” when the loyalty of a city gets to zero but you shouldn’t be colonized after losing a single battle. More than one member has said, “I like AgeI better. I’ll be damned if I’m going to produce resources for someone else.” Other than that, AgeII far surpasses AgeI in my mind. However, some areas for improvement and fairness . . .

    1) Disaster/Blessing points. If a player insists on preying on the weak, he should accrue disaster points. Each point is a % chance that some horrible disaster (Hurricane, Earthquake, Tornado, Barbarian Raiders, etc.) occurs which will destroy buildings, troops, and/or regular population depending on how many points are accrued by the time the disaster happens. Blessing points would offset disaster points and would be accrued by attacking someone stronger than you. Total strength level would be based on total level of buildings (Add all building levels together so lvl4 barracks + lvl5 cottage = total lvl9), total damage points for all troops/wall defs (base damage done by a troop in combat), Prestige, Honor, etc. Point would be awarded 1 point for every % difference. A 100 Strength Level player attacking a 10 Strength level player would accrue 9 disaster points (10 is 10% of 100 so there is a 90% difference). By contrast, if a lvl 10 Player attacks a lvl 100 player, he gets 9 Blessing Points. Blessings would be items normally awarded by the wheel also depending on amount of BPs accrue before the blessing arrives. Blessings or Disasters are awarded only if the attacker wins. Also, any Blessings or Disasters only fall upon the ATTACKER. The defender shouldn’t be penalized just for being there. Incidentally, the same should apply for Honor points. I was attacked on Server 131 by 100,000 Warriors. Not once but twice. Both times, I smashed the attacking force yet I lost both Honor and Prestige. I wasn’t the idiot who sent 100K warriors against a well defended town in a single wave.

    2) Speaking of Honor, why is it that if you have high honor, your wounded troop % goes down? Honor should be gained by winning reasonably equal battles. Also, there should be benefits for high honor. That would encourage inter-city battles. And Honor plus and minus should only be put on the ATTACKER. Someone should not lose honor for being attacked by a little pipsqueak punk. If the punk wants to attack someone much better defended than himself, he’s an idiot and should lose honor accordingly. I think there should also be benefits for alliance members to work well together to fight off attacks and conquer enemies.

    3) Strength lvl should also be a deciding factor on just how many times someone can attack someone else in a given time period. 1 attack for each % of your Strength lvl. (100 can only attack 10 ten times per day, 100 can attack 100 one hundred times, 10 can attack 100 one-thousand times).

    4) Colonization should not be possible if the gates cannot be breached. Better, Colonization should happen instead of a takeover when loyalty gets down to zero. If no successful uprisings occur within one month, the colonizing player gets to keep it as his own city to run or dump as he wishes (provided that he is of sufficient title to own another city, of course).

    5) Lastly, if a player has not logged onto his account on a particular server, that player should be deleted from that server since he is idle (say, if he is idle for 3 months). Warnings should be given, of course, to remind him that he needs to log back in. But if the player is not in Vacation Mode and has not logged on to his account on that particular Server for say, 3 months, the account should be deleted and the player’s city should be abandoned and revert to ruins or a flat. Ruins might need to be cleared of bandits but would have some basic buildings that flats would not.

I hope these ideas help. The biggest concern with AgeII right now is still Colonization. Second is the proliferation of players out of Beginner’s Protection which still only have about 100 pres meaning that they haven’t really even tried to play. The land is littered with them. I have a suspicion that Evony is creating them so active players can colonize them. But it’s a little irritating to be honest. I ran these ideas past some of our players and they seem to like them. Again, I hope you can use them. Honestly, except for colonization, I think AgeII would be a big hit.

P.S. It would also be nice if we could reinforce an ally who has been colonized. For some reason, the game will not let us do that. In AgeI we also were able to perfect the last second reinforcement. It would be cool if we were still able to do that. I sent reinforcements to an ally but they were turned away about 5 minutes before they were supposed to get there for some reason. I got no notice that anyone had used a stratagem on me and I did not recall them. Also, he never dismissed them because the troops never landed. I know this because the food they were carrying never made it to him. Honestly, we should be able to aid a besieged town. I couldn’t even send help during the suppression phase.

  76. I have played both Age I and Age II. I must say, I too was very disappointed when I found out I couldn’t capture enemy players’ cities.

Would it be better to do as some others had said, and designate a certain level a player has to reach before they can conquer/be conquered? Say, 200k prestige or something?

Don’t get me wrong, the whole colonization idea is pretty cool, but attacking and conquering was what I used to think of when I heard the word “Evony”. You guys definitely shouldn’t have taken that out.

  77. I have to say there has been some very good suggestions. I have played extensively on Age I and have resently began playing age 2. I prefer age 2 for a couple of reasons: It is not as cut throat as age I and I don’t have to farm 24/7 to keep an army big enough in my cities to protect them from being utterly destroyed. I can walk away from it with out worry and have a life outside of evony.
Many ppl have suggested two servers to satisfy 2 different types of game play. However, Evony already has two different ways to play: Age I or Age II. If you want constant war play Age I. FB links for Age I would be awesome.
The suggestion of matching prestige so players can attack one another on Age 2, doesn’t seem very viable. The reason is that there are ways to drop your prestige and then you would still be a higher pres. player attacking a small pres. player.
It seems like the simplest solution is for more aggresive players to play Age I.
If the developers think it is necessary to bring the attack option into age II. (Which I’m not 100% for) Then one suggestion is that no city that is attacked can be taken below 50% loyalty. That way the defender would never lose a city. At 50% loyalty the attack option would not become available to any offensive player whether or not they were the one to bring the defending players loyalty to 50% or not.
Thanks evony for listening to the players. But please remember you can’t please everyone 100%. I believe creating Age II was brillant and I hope you don’t change it too much.

  80. My first server on evonyI was 26(I think). After finishing there(everything on 10,etc.)I have played on 6 more.the last one was 110.6 times as a host, always under first 5 alliances…
Only cause of oportunity to start small, and to beat bigger ones only by tactics. It worked very well.It is about logic, and planing, etc. .Never lost a town to others(ok…used tele twice)
The oportunity to take enemys town was the best thing in game. Now,I must admit I am bit confused with this age II concept…the best thing is gone, and I don’t get realy what is the point of playing only by buildings leveling…to be someones kolonie?big deal…no damage.Nothing changes. He gets bit less,I got bit more, but nothing realy interesting hapends.By age I we couldn’t take someones last town, and that was fair enough. If somebody from alliance has lost a town,we have found him/her new one next day,and problem was solved. It was,and it is a war game, not SIMS.it is not about buildings, and cookies, and flowers…it is about attacking and defending.
I doubt it is going to work well this way

  81. Played age1 for around 9 months until it was spoilt by people stealing and releasing valleys also the silly 20 hour single transport attacks.
I decided to make a clean start in Age2, how anyone believed that this is what people really wanted is beyond me, obviously whose who didnt work at the game moaned the loudest.
Just decided to try going back to my old Age1 acct, but I may end up starting on a new game (not Evony)
    Advantages of Age2 are;
    1 better graphics.
    errmmm thats it.
Age2 thanks but no thanks, you have lost the plot.

  82. im a vet w/300k pres. in age 1 and have been attacked many times. ya its not fun when you get ganged up on by huge money spending players, but you have to deal with it. no i dont like the fact that they can take all ur cities but one and leave the last one in ruins.
now in age 2 im moving along but i do miss the threat of attacks. the rush of trying to prep ur defences in time. the button should be brought back but with its limits like choosing if you want to be in war mode or build mode with a delay in between like 12 hours to give the opponet time to get revenge. this no attacking stuff is kind of boring. and the bullying stuff was a problem in age 1.

as for tech. and units this is kind of a disapointment. i liked the mideval age and have studied it alot they had more units then like horse archers for raids, and hot tar for wall defences.

i like the idea posted by andrew on may 13
only the market would be trading resources and items between the alliance players.

adding these ideas would make the game more fun.

    thanks for listening

  83. okay this colonizing thing is bullsh!t, for us vets u definitely need to bring back conquering cities. everyone was a newb at some point.

And u ppl that are sayin we have age 1. well heres how it is, if it wasnt for us age 1 players spending money u wouldnt even have age 2, we invested money and time into this game and we get shafted in age 2.

the fun has been taken out of the game, if ur not gonna add plundering and attacking to the new age then i suggest updating age 1 to better graphics and the hero items.

  84. This is what I don’t understand why take a very successful game that hundred of thousands of people have played for a long time and continue to play, then decide to upgrade it with some interesting new features, but completely change the hole point of said game, and as a consequence make the new game (age2) completely redundant and utterly pointless. Please tell me with the new colonization attack, if that’s what you want to call it, what is the purpose of being in an alliance, building troops etc, etc. It only goes to show that not much thought went into the development of age 2. If a few people have been complaining that there cities have been taken while they have been off line, and all there hard work goes down the drain iv got news for you, you can be colonized while you are off line, and there is little chance you can get out of it which to me isn’t an improvement and really im sorry, but it’s only a game. At least before you had a better chance of putting up a fight, and having some fun in the processes. Age 2 isn’t a newer version of age one it is age 1 married in an unholy union to farmtown and monopoly that renders it utterly null and void. I don’t know what the evony developers where thinking, but they sure created a mess for them selves. So what’s going to happen is eventually, and probably in the not so distant future, there will be a mass exodus back to age 1 because let face it, your core demographic are age 1 players that like to play evony, and the remaining players will be the ones that don’t want to fight any one, and want to be left alone, and build there cities in futility, but those people wont spend $ because what’s the point, and soon they will get bored with holding hands and singing and leave, and you and your investors just sank what ever you did into a complete flop. But age 1 wont be booming ether because many people have transferred there accounts or after seeing the possibilities of age 2 will be put off completely and wont bother. There are a lot of problems with this new game that seams more like a test model than a fully functioning playable game. So for evonys sake you better do something quick and clean up the mess.

  85. solution is simple. Change it so if a player has more then 3 cities he/she can be attacked by any other player that has more then 3 cities.

Alternatively change it so that players declare war on a player and if the other player declares war back then it is an Evony1 style situation but if the 2nd player does not declare back then it is a Evony 2 style situation.

Out of the two methods I prefer the first. Simply set it so that once you grow past a certain size the rules change. Three cities really seems like the right spot for the transition.

  86. Im a PvEr never have enjoyed PvP I love the new changes I love that I cant get attacked once I start getting deeper into the game.

I hated getting to 7days prot end and then getting some 100k+ prestager killing me off and having to start again.

I like the idea of a pve and pvp server type setup. people that enjoy killing others will all be on same server people who enjoy the building side of the game dont have to worry about getting nailed every night.

  87. Having played both 1&2 i understand how terrible it is to work so hard to build up a city just to have it taken away from you.

However i do think they need to bring back the attack/plunder button. It is quite unrewarding to win an epic battle against a player, to kill his army, and see that he has millions of resources ripe for the taking but then to only be rewarded with a measely 10% of their production.

Possibly adding the attack/plunder button but not allowing the take over of cities is one possible solution.

Instituting some sort of bashing rule so people arent farmed out of the game. Or adding the plunder option as one of the colonize options u do once a day to ur colonies. click it and get say 25% of their stockpile once per day.

Finally maybe take out the declaring of war on single players and make the attack/plunder option available only when your alliance is at war with another. That would keep it to the political roots it now has and make alliance combat more crucial and having strong allys worthwhile.

  89. I’ve now played both versions and feel that a few simple changes to Age 1 would have been better.

    1. Allow a player to choose his main city that cannot be “taken”, thereby allowing the building of second, third …etc without worry.

    2. Hero limits just make sense, this is a good change.

    3. Longer BP for those who choose to do so. 7 days is short, if it was 15 days players could get truly ready.

    4. Format of Age 1 is better, easier on the eyes and easier to read. Although the double build for the first 72 hours is fantastic on Age 2.

    5. All the added bling in terms of items and Facebook friends is ridiculous, this is a War game and if I wanted to play on FB I’d go play farmville.

  90. I miss the action of age 1, age 2 is more for politicians…not for the battle hardened vets of age 1. With this version, the evony gods have grown soft. I do wish the attack button is back…and what gives w the 30 minutes cool down after war declaration? It’s like saying
“Here I come with my attacks but first lemme take a beauty nap” Evony gods…bring back the kill switch(attack button)

  91. Man, i’ve never played age1, but the way you guys describe it makes it sound like a srsly lame version of the enlightening creation of age2. Why would you wanna sit and attack each other all day? Go do what the game’s designed to do and conquer NPC’s, dummies, lol. I think pvp battles should be completely removed fromt he game to be honest… And, to top off the whole thing, I love farmville! and facebook! I’m stoked that evony decided to revolutionize and team up with them. Maybe you older age1 whiners should… I dunno, go back and play age1? Warmongers wouldn’t be missed at all on age2 anyways :D

  92. I think it would be nice if they brought back the attack button, and I had an idea that might make it better for everyone… If they could create a hybrid server capable of testing a few of these ideas that everyone has and maybe create more if it is a success? Also, I like the idea of being able to choose which is your “safe” city, but should the attackers be able to tell or not? I would also like to see if it would go over well to have this option as a reward with each title, so if you have 5 cities you can keep 2 of them…???

  95. Hello, Ive been playing evony for the last year on Age1. Age2 is geared to make the players pay dollars. I wish Age2 cut the suppresion time and have a attack button or a Pvp and Pve worlds. This game is not war anymore. Building, building, building.. Thats all. And dont forget to donate to have 10 cities since you cant get plunder anymore!

  96. I liked the game in Age I, liked the war aspect of it… but what i hated was having some jerk spend a bunch of money to get an unrealistic advantage and wipe people out. It was BS that if you spent 50 bucks on the game you could make an unbeatable account… so I quit. I would play this or a similar game for $10 a month, but only if people can’t buy their way to victory.

  97. Having played both Age 1 and Age 2, the differences are definitely noticeable.
But honestly, I think the lack of an ‘Attack/Plunder’ button works just fine.
All the poor big players that are so nicely settled in cant steamroll smaller players anymore.
I have lost count on how many times I have seen a player with one or two cities and low prestige get everything taken away by someone else who is something like, 10x their size.
Probably fun for the fat cats who can sit online all day. No so much for the poor guy who’s struggling to keep their head above water.
It was said earlier by someone else that there should be more of a limit to who can attack who.
I’d agree to this, in some shape or form. Let the big players that have been established for a while fight someone around their level, while the smaller guys and gals can grow and squabble and fight amongst themselves. Not saying they should get a free pass. But at least give them a fighting chance.

  98. I liked the plunder and taking cities aspect of the game even when I was on the receiving end more than the giving end! Battle testing is the best way to learn and Evony already made it impossible to kill someone off completely by making it so that the last city could never be taken. Maybe a combo of the 2 where we could choose what we wanted to do. That would be more historically correct anyway.

  104. I agree with the majority of the comments: there have to be ways of plundering each other for resources otherwise it is not realistic. But I like the colonization(suzerain) option as well – it establishes a certain degree of historical accuracy in the game – after all, this is how the feudal system worked in medieval Europe. Developers should combine the elements of Age 1 and Age 2, but either limit the frequency of farming raids or give players some interesting ways of hiding their resources. The latter option would encourage players to spend more time logged in.

  106. I started playing Age 1 over a year ago. Server 67 & 89. I joined alliance Asset fresh out of BP and really enjoyed playing. It took me awhile to realize that this game is a race to the top, to be knocked out.

I’ve read tons of complaints about players losing all there hard work, (and money sometimes) in a matter of hours.

When did this happen?…When they were OFFLINE!

Sure,, there’s truce and holiday, but people have lives they need to lead, and I’ve caught myself spending hours upon hours neglecting my real life for this game so I wouldn’t lose all my hard work.

In the end I decided to just quit, I love this game and the comradeship of the alliance, but when your offline,,,even in an alliance,,,your screwed if you come under attack.

If EVONY would find a way for Alliance leadership (host, vice, presb,(not officer)to see whats coming in an attack on a member city, AND be able to have limited control of that city, (GATES,MAYOR!) this game would be far more enjoyable!!

No attacks while offline is not realistic, and will be taken advantage of.

Giving Alliance leadership limited control of the city under attack (GATES,MAYOR)and the ability to see whats coming, I believe would solve these problems.

  109. I’ve played Evony 1 and in less then 2 weeks the fun is gone. Prestiges 1M plus thumping 50K is no fun. What age range does Evony want to attract. The preteen to 20ish that seem to live on Evony 1. Or adults looking for a fun night on line with multilevels of play to stay for for months on end. If your trying to give feel for war in the middle ages. Then why not have the player or players suffer massive loss in prestige by declaring war on other player/players. Welcome to the real world kids. Have resources very scarce and tied to both prestige and alliances and cities somewhat. Major battles were fought by small armies (20K was huge army) cause the troops were very costly vs resources available. Since the kids have evony 1 could us adults have evony 2.

  110. And also the combat system in evony 1 sucks. 1 warrior, 1 pike, 1 swordman, and 40K archers and you can get 5 plus volleys into the other sides forces. My son’s, who played the game a few years ago told the designers about this in bug reports but 2010 and its still there used by the 1M point players. The quest is nice to teach game play but you cannot go back and refresh your mind a few nights later on what was taught. Adults have lives outside of the game.

  111. I love the difference between evony1 and evony2 in this regard.

Players who get crushed in age 1 and don’t like it belong in age 2 where a suzerain colonizes them for tribute but does not smash their city to the point that it takes a week to recover (usually).

Those who love the additional challenge of climbing to power amidst constant hurdles and hurts belong in age 1. (also keep to one city in age1 until you understand the risks posed by owning 2 cities, you can loose your main :D )

In short age2 is the playpen and age1 is the school of hard knocks. Unless you paint a bullseye on yourself in worldchat…

  113. well, i like the colonization process but i agree that evony has become more of a political game because of that. so here are my opinions..
There should be a prestige cap for attacking (to plunder and capture cities) for example only players above 100k prest should be able to attack or be attacked but they are free to colonise during war declaration.
Then, there should be a level cap for how much prestige players they can attack.. for example 250k prest players should only be able to attack players between 150k-350k which is 100k prest above and below him. also, he can declare war only on players that are more than +100k his prestige which allows both the players to attack each other during war period (or either the war should last forever, because if the higher prest player’s city is taken, he can take it back cause he cant declare war on players less than 100k below his prestige).

    Well, thats just my opinion.
Have fun and Kill ‘em all!
